Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 21st April 2016]

Ahhh here we go, Rooney's management have splashed the cash to wet the media's whistle

Wayne Rooney impresses on return...

His management doesn't really need to tbh, there are lots of parties who have a personal interest in promoting him - Manchester United, The FA, his sponsors. All three of those have influence in the media and I think most pundits are just scared of being critical because they'd get ganged up on, it's a bit of a peer pressure thing imo.

10 changes for us from midweek:
-----------Ward
Randall-Toure-Lucas-Smith
------Stewart-Allen
Ojo------Firmino-----Ibe
--------Sturridge

I can only assume that Skrtel is injured because with Can and Henderson out for the season I expect Klopp would have wanted to wrap our CM options up in cotton wool.

Can understand Lucas playing to get match fitness but not Allen, he is our midfield at the moment.

Delighted to see Ojo again. Hopefully he'll continue the form he showed in the last 20 minutes of his league debut.

Edit: Whoops, forgot Milner :o

LFC Team: Ward, Randall, Toure, Lucas, Smith, Allen, Stewart, Ibe, Ojo, Firmino and Sturridge.

Not the team I was expecting tbh.

With no cover at LB, Flanagan ineligible for Europe (althouth it looks like he's been totally bombed out since the Southampton game) and our CM injuries, it's not a massive surprise to me.

We can't afford to risk our back 4 & Milner and you wouldn't want to ask too much of Coutinho remembering he's had a couple of hamstring injuries this season already.

As above I can only assume Skrtel is injured which has forced his hand - Lucas then has to play CB instead of CM, meaning Allen plays. I guess he could have picked another kid but I think it's important to try to keep some momentum going and wanted to pick a fairly strong side.

About time Ward got a game since thus far recalling him from loan has been abit pointless

It was only pointless because Mignolet didn't get injured. Had he picked up a knock and Bogdan ended up in goal again we'd be asking why Ward's out on loan.

I wouldnt be at all surprised to see Liverpool fielding similar teams for all the remaining league matches, focus has got to be on the Eurooa League now and not getting anyone else injured.

We'll put out a full strength side vs Everton then rest them vs Newcastle and again the following weekend before the 2nd leg of the semi.

And classy Bournemouth.
