Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 21st April 2016]

Martinez saying he could be the greatest defender in Englands history didnt help. Far too early when Stones hadnt really done anything of any note apart from show a bit of technique

Do you expect him to be scoring 15+ goals a season from the centre of midfield? Because if that's what youre expecting, he's playing a lot deeper than previously. Pass percentage is 85%...pretty good for a player asked to take risks with his passing. I fear he might be sold in the summer, i really hope he stays though.

Not at all, where did you get 85% pass rate from? Last time I saw him play he gave the ball away almost every time and didn't really have much involvement with the game.

Do you think Ramsey is a rubbish footballer?

Yes, what part of he is **** did you not understand exactly??

Don't get me wrong, I think he has the talent to be one of the best but he's too error prone for my liking. Not only that he likes to bomb forward but leaves our midfield and defence wide open. Finally he can't shoot for toffee nowadays.

I'm pretty sure he was playing around. As I said earlier though, he's always been a sulker on the pitch when he gets subbed off or somebody doesn't pass to him. It doesn't really concern me because it's never effected his performance.

I have no problems with him as a player at all :)

Lets just hope he can stay fit because it's being reported tonight that Origi's season is over - ankle ligament damage which will keep him out for 4-6 weeks. Having had no fit CB's earlier in the season that's now the only position where we've got cover, everywhere else we're down to the barebones.

It's a loss, but is it that big of an issue? Sturridge looks to be fit and back on form, providing he doesn't have to play 5 games in a week he should be able to last the season.

It's not like Benteke is the only player to come in for him :p

It is and it isn't. Sturridge is starting to hit form and not had any fitness issues for a while now but he's being managed. He's not starting twice a week and who knows what might happen if he did. Had we been well out of the race for 4th then it would have probably been more straight forward (we could have just rested Sturridge for the EL) but if we win out then there's a slight chance we could still make the top 4 which makes the league games important too. With only 1 fit centre forward (who's notoriously injury prone) we're now in a tricky situation.

Regardless of our lack of other options, the injury to Origi is a loss in it's own right. He's been in excellent form and has really kicked on over the last few months. If he could improve his ball striking (he scuffs his shots too often) then he could be an incredible player. Physically he's as close to perfect as you're going to see - he's as fast as anybody around, despite a fairly slight frame he's incredibly strong (it shocked me how easily he's been bullying CB's lately) and unlike most big centre forwards his energy levels are 2nd to none. His hold up play is very good, he's got great close control and can run with the ball, the only thing that's letting him down is his ball striking/finishing - when a chance presents itself you're never 100% confident he'll put it away.
