Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 21st December 2016]

And rightly so. Just because those players challenges were worse, that doesn't make Vardy's challenge not a red. He's jumped into the challenge, it's a straight forward red.

yep it was reckless and if you lunge in with 2 feet off the ground it's going to be risking a red. Appeal had no grounds. Just because the ref has made mistakes before doesn't mean he should be making them going on.

I've just got around to watching MOTD from last night. Is English Charlie Adam's first language? The guy seriously struggled to make sense in anything he said.

Mah I didn't think Barkleys tackle was the 'horror tackle' 'horrific tackle', it was bad, straight red but I don't think he hit him that hard, luckily Henderson was moving away from the direction him came in. Or had he been stationary then it would have been horrific.

He should still have retrospective punishment but won't because of the rules. Vastly over rated ponce tbh and I'm hoping he can string together a run of games at the end of the season so City hand over 40m as a stop gap to settling at sunderland.

It was a shocking tackle:

If Henderson's studs stick into the ground his season is over, at the very least. It's incredibly fortunate that Henderson's foot wasn't fully planted and it luckily slid away.

Love all that twitter stuff...

"Really shows the gulf in class on and off the pitch"

Funny how quickly they forget the lengths they went to to justify Suarez's actions. I don't need to do that because Barkley is ****.

Oh give it a rest. You know twitter is full of idiots. I've seen Evertonians claiming the flare that was thrown on the pitch was meant to hit disabled Everton fans and we should have points docked.

Yes I know, perhaps I shouldn't have said twitter as it clearly hurt your feelings and should have just said the Suarez apologists on here. :D

I no longer get why football creates so much venomous hate in people and the stuff they wish on people over a game. I have seen enough derbies to shrug off those kind of challenges I have seen enough of them on both sides. Both sides of fans love it when it happens and they get elevated to heroes for a stupid reason.

Any challenge that risks breaking a players leg I usually class as pretty bad. As above, if Henderson's foot doesn't slide then his season was over.

I agree, but it did slide which is what I said, a very bad tackle. Not the horror story the press and internet made out. It was as though they have never watched a derby before.

As I said straight red but no one got hurt.

I can't say I noticed any of the horror story stuff, I've just seen people call it what it was and that was a really bad tackle. The fact that Henderson got lucky and isn't injured doesn't change the challenge.
