Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [16th - 22nd August 2011]

Tougher opposition? Like when he absolutely bossed the Chelsea defence in the Champions League? He's played against two (of three, other being United) of the best sides in Europe (Real and Barcelona) and has done very well against them.

He's bloody good in FM too, to be fair..

His goalscoring record though arguably isn't better than Rooney, Drogba, Torres or possibly Tevez. He does offer more assists than those though apart from Rooney possibly.

He hasn't yet hit 30 goals a season, and all of the above apart from Tevez (29) have done in a season.

They are two pretty different leagues, it's far too early to say he's going to continue his form from Spain. Rossi outscored him last season overall and was only two off in the league. It's difficult to compare strikers and it's still early.

Instead of "LOL" put forward an argument as to why he's not and who's better?

Everyone has put together the entirely obvious and reasonable counter-argument to what is a massively knee-jerk statement. Aguero might have been one of the best forwards in Spain but he's not one of the best forwards here until he has proved it. He absolutely has the potential but I suggest waiting until the end of the season before making such grand claims.

Nope, I've stuck my neck out (like I said) and said he's the best attacking player in the League in my opinion. He's not an unknown and he's come from a better footballing League (imho)

Stats don't say everything about a player though. I think he's oddly enough a very similar player to Rooney, in the sense he's fast, strong, technically really good and has good vision, Rooney has a much better team work ethic with his tracking back at times though.

You didn't put forward a counter argument though :)

He's also a massive nerd, so gets + points for that.
