Another random game. Good and bad spells.

I think Falcao looked sharp when he came on, charging around up front and creating problems, which is what you want.

Expecting to lose the next two games and then we really need to sort things out and try and hang around 4th until January, then we can spend even more money and bolster the defence. Unless it magically improves...

Falcao did more when he came on than what RVP managed in 90+ mins. Minus the effort that hit the post, he looked rubbish.

You agreed with shami saying we'd taken our creative players off...unless you class di Maria as none creative.

If we knew that Di Maria couldn't play 90 mins then surely we should have got Falcao on earlier? Or not taken off Herrera and Mata? It meant we were just left playing long ball for the end of the match.

If people can't see the difference in the way we're playing and the progress then they are absolutely bat ****.

It's an infinite improvement on Moyes and it's not just down to having some better players.

It's definitely an improvement (not the toughest thing to do though) but it's just not much of an improvement, especially considering how heavily we've spent.

West Brom were unlucky with a couple of decisions today. Fellaini clearly nudges Lescott under the ball for his goal and Berahino was punished for being too honest; at 1-1 Jones tripped him and had he gone down he gets a pen but because he stays up the ref didn't have the bottle to award it.

Of course Baz....no remove the tinted glasses.

The Fellaini one was never a foul, no chance. If we're counting that as a foul the WBA defenders were repeatedly holding his shirt on all our corners, not in a subtle fashion either.

Jones barely touched him but it was risky.

I agree, you could say he has made tough decisions and moved people on but would he have been brave enough to make those calls so quickly after taking over from fergies title winning side. I said years ago moyes would be the fall guy to allow someone else to come in and make the changes. That is exactly what has happened. I don't think the football would have been any worse under moyes this year if he spent another £150m, although whether those same players would have signed for moyes is highly doubtful.

So this is LVG's progress after 3 months with what the best part of 150m spent?? I guess they keep lobbing money at him and proclaim him a messiah when it's 300m or 400m. The pressure on him to get fourth of better this year must be immense.

Of course it was a foul. As soon as Lescott went to jump Fellaini nudged him in the back.

And barely touched him or not, Jones still tripped him.

I don't think it was a foul, Lescott's reaction didn't look proportionate to the contact. Even Lescott didn't complain, did he?

He was complaining as it happened.

He does it all the time and to be fair to him its a good tactic. He can give away 10 fouls for it but if he gets away with it just once, like today, he gets his reward

Yeah, LVG shows a lot of fear doesn't he, his arrogance/confidence is barely visible I can totally see him refusing to make changes had he taken over last year.

As for the rest, don't let the fact that most of the players arrived late in August, don't let the fact that Utd have had only 5 league games and no preseason with the current squad(ie since start of september). ignore the fact that they've had a huge injury crisis primarily in defence.

At best, if you're ignorant you can say the current squad has been together for about a month and a half. The reality is half or more of the defence has been injured over the past 3 months, Herrera has been injured, Falcao is coming back from a long term injury, Shaw only just started playing, Rafael was injured for a reasonably long time and they lost almost two weeks of that time to international teams.

If you want to ignore all that, and instead say that Moyes played an almost completely unchanged side with few/no injuries at the start of last season, the team that had the summer off to rest after they won the title........ yeah, Moyes and LVG are facing almost exactly the same situation.

Rebuilding a team takes time, it takes time for new players to get comfortable, takes time for them to find form, takes time to adjust to a new system and playing with new players. Moyes used the same team in the same formation with the same starting line up in the majority of the first 2-3 months with no serious injuries, he bought one player.

Put one new player in a team of 11 and 10 players are incredibly familiar with how the others play, those 10 players only have to adjust to one new player. Moyes had exactly no excuse for the form to drop when he was completely unwilling to make real changes but they did. he took over the champions and made them worse. LVG took over a crap team that weren't champions, replaced half the squad, has an injury crisis and players who aren't used to most of the squad yet. Stop trying to compare it as if it's the same situation, it isn't.
