So this is LVG's progress after 3 months with what the best part of 150m spent?? I guess they keep lobbing money at him and proclaim him a messiah when it's 300m or 400m. The pressure on him to get fourth of better this year must be immense.

Its really only two months of competitive football - pre-season results (even vs Liverpool) count for squat.

Its actually about £120m (after sales), Chelsea have spent that in the last year on a much more developed squad and its only two massive sales which got them with such a small"spend".

We could sell another two or three players (at least) get two decent centre halfs and a decent box-to-box midfielder in and not even be at £200m -after sales - and be challenging for the title next season while using youngsters to flesh out the squad.

All the money shows is how well Fergie did while not spending much in the last three or four years. Moyes wasted the summer not getting Herrera a year ago (which may well have made attracting more than Fellaini a lot easier as well), seriously not helped by woodward's inexperience.

The big difference tonight was we fought right to the end (when a lot of the time last season, Utd gave up with a lot of time to go).

Yeah that is true, I don't think Moyes would have got anything out of tonight's match. Some of the spirit is definitely back. We just need to get a regular back 4 (particularly centre pairing) playing together. I don't think either Rojo or Jones did that bad tonight, but there were a few times where it was clear they weren't used to playing together.

It's early days yet. There are many factors contributing to things at the moment, as people have mentioned.

Why's Danny so against LvG?! Basically saying even if he ends up doing a good job it's just because of money... seems incredibly bitter...?

Exactly.
I think we took a step forward today.
In fact today, was the first time in a long time, where we were playing like during the days of Fergie - we attacked right until the final whistle. During Fergie's reign, we would often score in the 90th minute and this is what we were trying to do today. We played with no fear for the first time this season - 'I can't believe I just said that about Man Utd'.

Compare this to the last few games where we were pinned in our own half, attempting to park the bus.

I think we played well today, but got unlucky with freak statistic: WBA had 2 shots on goal and scored 2.

We are also putting an unbeaten run together, which should do wonders for our (lack of) confidence. Unfortunately Man City and Chelsea will probably dent our confidence, but if we can get something from these 2 games, it could really boost us.

His positioning was pretty suspect and his crossing wasn't great (granted we knew that last bit when we signed him though) I'm glad we've got Rojo so he isn't guaranteed a spot, it's clear he needs to work a lot harder.

Shaw is the most ungainly runner I've seen for a prfessional athlete.

Motions that she should be getting a 10 second hundred metres but he's like treading water or going backward lol.

30 million blown imo..

As the 5 Live commentators pointed out last night, Shaw's wasted with Di Maria in front of him, as he cant go wandering forward as freely he did last season.

He'd have suited the 3-5-2 formation down to the ground, but he missed that spell, and I doubt it's going to reappear anytime soon. He's young enough to adapt his game to become more defensively minded, but the way van Gaal is setting the team up at the moment, he's not going to show his best, even if he was at the top of his game (which he clearly isn't yet, which is fair enough given his time off).

Less of that please.

wow did you see luke shaw, hes amaze, so fast.

best left back ever. Bargin.

he's 19, has only played 3 ****ing games in the league so far, has had fitness/injury problems and has di maria occupying the space in front of him.

but anyway, he shouldn't be your problem, you should just go and support citeh

Ahh the luke shaw defense brigade arrives!

He's 19 seriously over weight and unfit despite getting provided dietician, specific workouts etc and you think this is acceptable? Lol.

If he was 42, demotivated at the end if his career you might hace a point...

i'll defend him when you use special arguments to suit your bizarre agenda.

you know every time you come out with stuff like this people disagree with you. this is for a reason.

as i've said before, you should just go support another team because you're clearly struggling to support united.
