Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 22nd November 2016]

We seem to believe that scoring one goal is enrough to win matches, but it just isn't. The last 20 mins we've not even tried to take our chances, thinking it's done.

Since schneiderlin came on we have got worse notbetter.

The sheer number of games in which we've been disastrously awful without a real striker, then Giroud come on and how we play has been completely different. We've had 3-4 games playing this Sanchez/Walcott upfront combination in which we've deserved to be beaten soundly with absolutely awful attacking performances only for dodgy penalties, dodgy calls, handball goals to make Wenger think it somehow worked.

I've also said for years that Giroud isn't very good but would be a great sub and alternative/two striker option for late in games.

The problem is we need someone better than Giroud to start ahead of him, not Sanchez, who is as far from a central/lone striker as I think Arsenal have ever had during Wenger's time here. His consistent decision to play Sanchez should have cost us 10+ points by now, but even with the late game flukes has cost us points in both the league and CL.

Extremely irritating to hear commentators giving Wenger credit for bringing on Giroud and making the difference. THe problem being that Wenger has dropped Giroud for Sanchez upfront and it's failed miserably all season. The very reason we were absolutely dire upfront all game long was Wenger's repeated decision to not play Giroud upfront. So he doesn't get credit for fixing a mistake he's been repeating game after game.

After three games it was clear Sanchez upfront as a lone striker was awful. The only games it's 'worked' in has been well, against just such bad teams it didn't matter, against everyone else we've looked completely unable to break down the opposition with Sanchez looking isolated and uninvolved until we make a big change late in the game.

Let off for Arsenal, poor game from them. Chance for the leaders to gain ground, Klopp will be happy.
