Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 22nd November 2016]

Liverpool team: Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Matip, Milner, Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Mane, Firmino.

Substitutes: Mignolet, Klavan, Moreno, Lucas, Grujic, Origi, Sturridge.

Nice to see Countinho in as was rumours he would miss it, Hope we carry on where we left off.

Southampton certainly leaving the foot in and getting away with pulling players back 0.o.

Milner should've probably been booked too mind.

Awful game earlier. Most notable points for me:

Monreal is awful this season, made Valencia look good, anyone with pace destroys him!
Ramsey completely unbalanced the team, was never in position and offers absolutely nothing.
Never a penalty.
Sanchez is not a striker.
Giroud is.
We missed Bellerin.
We did not deserve a point.
How Wenger manages to get generation after generation of team to have such an inferiority complex is quite amazing.
Boring!

Ozil gone missing from your post too.

Boring half, As mentioned Henderson has been doing nothing but slowing our game down, Can has made about 3 forward runs, Can tell we dont have Lallana but i sense we will get luck if we bring Origi on as Southampton aint exactly going for it, Use his pace withe Mane

The international break plus the weather is showing its toll on some Liverpool players. Tricky game with Southampton defending deep. Conditions will create more chances in this game imo.

Mourinho: Man Utd the Premier League's unluckiest team

Not even half way into season and its all lucks fault again, gotta love his excuses they never change

I see the opposite with can its like bullet time when he gets the ball. Takes ages to control it and then looks up to see what's around. Hendo has been good in breaking up play.

So many times this season we've played Sanchez through the middle where he's just awful and the team just can't find him nor he the team instead of playing him wide left where he can be amazing.

We played Ramsey there... who was utterly awful. He's so so poor defensively, he has so little to his game, he's bad in his own half, most of his shooting is awful. The only thing he has is that ability to arrive late in the box and score a goal, but when we play this kind of system there are no such attacks for him to arrive late onto.

With the team as it is, Giroud needs to start, if we'd bought a better striker then Giroud was as I've said for years, make a really good sub striker. Any time we want to try 4-4-2 or a guy to start games to give others a rest or give us a different type of attack if a game isn't going well, that is what Giroud is for. As a starting striker for a team trying to win 2+ competitions he hasn't got the all around game required. He's literally the fox in the box Wenger always wanted, but that requires the better all around striker to play behind him.

I've always stood up for Giroud in terms of defending him as one of the best finishers within 8 yards around, he just doesn't have enough else to his game. He's strong in the air, bang a ball across and watch him get a foot to it and it goes into the top of the netting, sure, but run at a defence... not remotely part of his game.

If we bought lets say Higuain, he starts and giroud is the alternate giving us a great strike force. But Sanchez isn't the guy to displace him and as we didn't buy a better striker, Giroud needs to be starting.
