Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 22nd November 2011]

Norwich weaker than Villa? Not based on the respective performances at the weekend they're not nor based on the formers performances at Old Trafford and Anfield

Villa were dreadful last night really really bad, Spurs could have won 1-0 and Villa still wouldn't of mounted any form of sustained pressure

villa were dreadful because spurs got the game in control very quickly. norwich are weaker than villa, there's no way anyone can deny that.

I'm not saying this because it was Spurs but Villa last night gave the worst performance I've seen all season, completely gutless, shockingly poor performance.

can you do one for arsenal please?

Based on their starting XI at the weekend and using wiki for a guide it is this:

Sczenzny - Free
Mertesaker - 8m
Vermaelen - 10m
Koscielny - Undisc but reports claim 10m (I thought it was 6m)
Santos - 6m
Arteta - 10m
Walcott - 9.1m (comprimised settlement)
Ramsey - 5m
Song - 1m
Van Persie - 2.75m
Gervinho - 10.7m

Therefore - £72.5m (ish)

Bah I can't really be bothered, it'll come in at a very similar number to Spurs though

Off the top of my head, without including the odd £1m or £2m for the likes of Diaby etc, I came up with ~£110m. Even if you add another ~£20m for all those cheap/young players, you're still a bit behind the £150m Moses worked Spurs' figures out as.

edit: Using the same off the top of my head calculations: I've got Liverpool at ~£160m, Utd at ~£250m, Chelsea at ~£320m and City at ~£350m+.

Yeah I knew our squad would be much cheaper but I thought our first XI/weekend team would be very similar

Quite scary when you look at City tbh. When you think that their squad cost literally 20 times as much as some teams they'll play this season, the 3 - 0 wins etc. don't look quite as good

:) Youtube take a look at this video (I think), even though Wenger has god like vision for younger players, that left peg was always unbelievable

Unbelievable he is...such a shame that when hes finally fit we lose Fabregas and Nasri in one fell swoop then added to that Wilshere gets injured longterm...cant wait for him to get back fully fit.

But i fear that this summer we will lose RVP as he hasnt signed a contract extension yet.

Not sure he needs anyones sympathy he's done alright for himself, but his ability to improve players is beyond comprehension, I don't know what he does and says in training but the amount of players who have improved vastly at Arsenal is mind boggling

Disagree. Spurs didn't even move out of 2nd gear last night Villa were that awful in fact Spurs will in all likelihood play better than they did last night and lose games.

Any team that plays Heskey is always going to be heavily diluted going forward, I still don't understand why he's still in the Premiership plenty of players like him stuck in the lower leagues.

What do you mean? Heskey is the most natural winger I have ever seen in my life. Honest.

Don't think those amounts for Kaboul are correct, I seem to remember they owed us money still on Defoe so we got them back for what they had given us so far or something like that.

Watching Heskey last night I did wonder to myself if he'll call it a day come the end of the season, he's quite possibly the worst player in the league now

I remember Houllier getting an absolute hammering in the press for leaving out Heskey and playing Owen-Fowler up front in a game against Ipswich which we lost. How times have changed :o

This to be honest.

Villa were rubbish absolute rubbish. Playing Hutton on the wing as well as Heskey what on earth is he thinking?

Mcleish doesn't have a clue. But not only that the team has no bite in them, half of them don't even look like they want to be out there playing.

What I saw last night is not the Villa I grew up to support.

Another Downing bashing post?, its getting a little old now.

And besides, your theory only works if they replace with someone who's actually better. Nzogbia's been a bigger failure then Downing could ever be.
What are you talking about? I don't think I've ever even mentioned Downing before

But seeing as you mentioned it I'd take 1 Nzogbia over 2 Downings ;)
