Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 22nd November 2011]

Gone in Jan, he is useless.

Gone in Jan, he's better than Squillaci, not saying much but he has been woeful, completely useless, yet we're throwing money away on him weekly.

Mert is supposedly on 80k a week, NO ONE else in Europe thought he was good enough, slow, horrible positioning, a mistake waiting to happen. He's Crouch but at the back, big, managers buy him because he's big, but he doesn't use his height, he's just rubbish.

If no one wanted him for cheap before, who will want him for cheap + match his new much higher wages, answer is, no one. Sure that crazy Russian side will ***** 24.6million a week in wages on the right player, they have no reason to go for someone as crap as him. :(

Likely stuck with him long term, and its 80k a week we can't spend in wages on better players.

RvP again!

1-1

Walcott and RvP are such a deadly partnership.

God i hope we bag Cahill in Jan...Mertesacker is just bloody rubbish...nice goal by RVP to get us level...a few more RVP specials please...

How on earth is the Burnley keeper not off the pitch? Handball outside the box with no defender behind him...

[edit]And Trippier was last man, pulled McCormack back, not even a booking

Norwich don't seem to know what to do with the ball half the time, we break forwards but don't have any real pace so have to stop and wait for the turtles in midfield to catch up.

Haven't seen all of the game but apparently Russell Martin has blocked 2 or 3 off the line?

Overall it is good to see us giving Arsenal a good game, even it means Arsenal end up thrashing us.

but why, he scored a hat trick for the u21's not so long ago and scored on his CL debut. Surely he is good enough to be included in the squad more often.
I would guess that the people that see him day in, day out, obviously have decided that he isn't quite ready to be integrated into the first team yet. It's not like we're crying out for his talents immediately or anything. As you said, he's only 18, plenty of time.

If I was going to get him, I'd just wait until he was available on a Bosman, tbh.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Bolton have the option of extending his deal by another year. I guess that would explain why they were holding out for more money in the summer.

He is only 18, no rush I guess.

Problem is we play two players either side of Van Persie and he has to compete with Gervinho, Arshavin and Walcott. That means two of them start and the other on the bench, no place for AOC. I guess he will get some more gametime in January due to Gervinho and Song being at ACoN, and the FA Cup.

That said, what annoyed me is that we spent £12-15m (potentially our second biggest purchase EVER) on a player who realistically shouldn't be getting in the team for another couple of years. The idea of paying an eight-digit fee for a youth/backup player doesn't sit well with me at a club like Arsenal, meanwhile not being prepared to stump up half that for a player like Parker who would improve them team from day 1.

Golden boot looking likely to go to RVP if he can stay fit.

Is that 15 goals this season now for him?

Thats only a few off the highest scorer's from last season. :/

crazy.

Not that it really affects your point, but Cameroon didn't make the ACoN, so Song's not going anywhere. :)
