Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 24th October 2018]

Michael Oliver playing the advantage for a handball in the area :D :D

The Man City game was a farce, Kompany and Sane should have both been sent off. The second goal was an absolute joke.

The standard of officiating is so poor.

The officiating in the City game was comically bad. Blatant red for Kompany and probably one for Sane, and then Sane dive, Silva offside and the ball out all in the same incident leading to the second goal. Sometimes I feel for officials because they do have a tough job, but the officials should be ashamed of their performance in the game.

It's yet more evidence that the sooner VAR is introduced the better.

Just seen the Kompany challenge. That's an absolute stinker. I get refs can make an incorrect call but he's clearly seen it because he's given a yellow. Why's he only given a yellow? Refs should have to explain it.

Big Shaq might be able to fill that hole. What we really need is for Keita to stop being a fairy and pull his finger out.
If given more chances he might be, I want to see a run of a couple games with fabinho too.

Keita I thought would hut ground running and hasn't I know new league etc so diffcult, I just had hopes

Now that I agree with.

Its really about time that referees are interviewed on camera after a match and asked about decisions like that one and made to explain their thinking to the watching public. Not saying that they should be explaining every decision but something like that one, it would be useful to know why a referee does what they do. Otherwise I'm likely to just think they have a bet on at the bookies that there will be a certain number of yellow cards in a match or something.

Keita looked terrific in the first match, immediately clicked, looked like he had been in the team for years but hasnt really pushed on with that, I thought we might see him driving for the box more often, maybe some more shots at goal etc, perhaps I misinterpreted his role but he hasnt seemed to kick on really from that first match. Maybe he just needs more time.

I agree was the same last season he should have been sent off but wasn't and goals given that shouldn't have been

I'm assuming he saw the challenge, but didn't see the fact the studs were raised? Guess that's the type of thing that can happen, I do agree he should have been off but until VAR comes in then it's going to happen from time to time. Yes it might slow the game down a bit, but with the amount of money at stake in football now they need to ensure they are getting the decisions correct.

Fair enough, but he should have seen that, he held his arm up I don't care if it hit his thigh first.

Kompany should get a retrospective ban for that, Pep last year talking about how his players should be protected more against bad tackles yet they behave like that...

I missed the Snodgrass tackle on Lucas as well, if Lucas had better contact with the ground that would have broken his leg. People complain about VAR but you've got a load of officials on the pitch and none of them have a clue what's going on.

Who said he didn't see it? For that to be handball you have to believe that he's put his arms in an unnatural position with the intent of gaining an advantage - nobody in their right mind could argue that he's put his arm there. expecting to knee the ball against his arm.
