Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 2nd September 2012]

I don't hate him I just don't like it that someone so bad at their job makes so much cash doing it!

He's a pub team player, nothin more.

that is so far from the truth. He is accomplished at positioning, he is superb at defending aerial balls.

his weakness is his agility when turning; a bit like T*rry much as I hate to make that comparison

Many of AVB's decision were poor today: Sandro coming off instead of Livermore, Gallas starting when Dawson is younger, better and faster and Ade not starting...

The majority of Chelsea fans last year were left scratching their heads at AVB's decisions regarding subs & starts too, he seems to watch a different game than most.
I don't doubt his knowledge or tactical awareness but his decisions never seem to be the right ones or change a game, maybe he just needs time, who knows.
Having said that he's doing a great job at the moment, keep up the good work ;)

Back to reality, Azza? :D

Think all the players were up watching SSN again!

And weirdly, when Gibson went off, just like against Villa in the 2nd half the whole original game plan just went, it's like he's a good player and just sits in that hole and bosses everything! Who'd have thought it! :D I wasn't able to watch the match only listened to about the last 20 minutes, but apparently more just hilarious defending that cost us.

God knows why Heitinga is still 3rd choice CB behind Distin.

Dominated the game today but made it a lot harder then it needed to be.

I might stop going to City v QPR it is always nervy when I go!

3 points and stronger performances from Silva and Tevez which is great news.

Did Gary just say Sunderland did good business in the transfer window?!?!?! *squinting at the tv*

Also Swansea's first goal, AWESOME!

Hilariously bad! No idea what he was doing...

Boo hiss to 'Arry on tv! "Sunderland will have a great season" first silly comment...

Also why didn't Vorm catch that second goal!?!?! It's in his 6 yard area so it should be his when no one is challenging him!

Eh? Stronger from Tevez, he's been fantastic in every game, and Silva... he was up against Fabio and a tracking back Park..... as in he was unmarked and all alone all game :p Zabaleta's very almost goal was a classic example, Fabio has no clue what he's doing, the pass was easy because Fabio ignored the run completely. Silva won't have probably any easier games all season.

Fergie probably messed up, while he got Fabio's wages off the books for a season, if he let his contract get to a year left he might have fooled someone into taking a shot on a 2-3mil transfer.... after this season that is probably unlikely.

Anyway, for me I thought Silva delayed a few other passes like for a Dzeko chance, and made a lot of work out of beating a very very very very very awful QPR left flank.

Traore while not brilliant can't be worse, still City got very lucky as at 1-0/1-1 Koralov should have been off several times, 10 men often still win games and City certainly had enough quality on the pitch, but it can always go wrong as well.

Is Distin always this rubbish?

Everton should've scored at least 2 goals, very unlucky not to get a draw.

Distan has been that rubbish since he was signed by saggy face to Portsmouth! No idea why Everton persist with him (always though Yobo was better but thats arm chair fan-ness).

Everton just didn't get their slice of luck, West Brom look tidy though.

Is Twitchy only able to speak in clichés and self agrandising nonsense?

He has said nothing of value at all - a surprising feat for the length of his comments. Hours of nonsense spew forth.

Fellani missing the goal by a mile, then towards the end instead of passing that ball back for someone else to play in he tries a stupid back hell, then tries to do a player on the goal line..... someone is getting a bit of an ego after his recent performances. Trying to do tricks and be fancy rather than do the simple stuff well which is all you need.

With a twitch twitch here and a twitch twitch there... :p

Such a terrible manager and pundit!

Also Nolan with the WORST celebration in the known universe! Good goal, looked an idiot trying to celebrate like a chicken!

Commentators need to get a grip on the difference between a push and a dive. Carroll dived there, he was pushed then he jumped and fell over, same nonsense commentating happened in the Swansea game :(

Carroll and Rooney are the same, they scream and yell at the ref after every single decision, an actual foul, a dive, a foul given for them, an obvious goal kick. Carroll hear's the whistle and just turns and screams and someone, Rooney's the same. Carroll goes down so soft in those situations, thing is it was a minor minor shove and he could still have got the ball but instead feels the touch, throws his head down and makes a meal of it.

He was good today, West Ham were very good, not just long balling it their passing was good but it was helped a lot by Fulham being poor. Jol's face was hilarious, after the second or third goal they showed him and he had this look like he was dying, gurning and looking like it was the end of a game they were losing 10-0.

Will take them a bit of time to adjust, and they are usually pretty woeful away from home anyway so its not unsurprising. Sidwell isn't going to cut it, they need some guys to step up and get the offence working.

So nice to see things back to normal. Redknapp chatting perma-nonsense. Big Sam with long ball to the big man. Shearer eulogising about a Geordie...

Now time to put boot into foreign manager.... queue spurs match.

As long as everyone is screaming shut up harry every time he tries to sound like he knows whats happening in front of his saggy mask I am not too worried about everyone else.

I do like the snide comments Lineker keeps coming out with re redknapp

Yes I know but he was better today. Still getting back match sharpness as is everyone really.
Silva has been terrible the first two games, today he looked a lot fresher. I know he was up against poor opposition but good for his confidence to play well.
Kolarov could have been off several times? Truly lol.
