Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [20th - 23rd December 2019]

Seems I was right in the first place. It’s being reported as one incident with the same warning being given three times. Not sure where people are getting reports of multiple racist incidents from?

Did Gary really need to make it political and bring Johnson and Corbyn into a discussion about football racism though?

Just seemed a bit of an unwarranted comment to me.

How is it unwarranted, the point is that this goes way deeper than football. If your head of state and the opposition leader are both widely accused of being racist but are able to keep their positions then what message does that send out to the rest of the country?

I can’t believe Sky actually asked the presenter to say that, genuinely think we’ll look back at this and see it as the very beginning of where Sky lost being the leader in sports.

I think it'll be forgotten in less than a week by the vast majority of people, if they even care in the first place that Sky wanted to distance themselves from Gary Neville skirting around effectively calling the Prime Minister racist.

They quite understandably want no part of being seen to condone the opinion that Brexit, Conservatives, etc. etc. are in any way linked to racism, as that's half their customer base lined up to take offence at being labelled like that.

Edit - listening again, he's including Labour and the anti-semitism thing too, so that's even more people they'll be worried about irritating into a cancelled subscription.

Well said.

Its time this gets highlighted

No surprise who would be annoyed at Neville linking the recent normalisation of it to the current political climate that lets be honest, has been fuelled here and in the US since 2016.

Well said by Neville, once again.

Neville got it spot on, ridiculous sky made the presenter say what he did.

Football isn't the cause of racism and never has been it's society as a whole

As a way of providing the full facts, Sky did release the full discussion where it continuities the same theme and Ashley Cole basically repeats what Neville had already said. Think Sky realised they made an error so decided to allow the discussion on the video part of their app.

More interesting werethe parts from Souness and the kick racism out campaign.

Sky should not of forced the presenter to say anything anyway, the discussion was not offensive in any way shape or form

Sky deserve what ever back lash they get from it
