Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st May 2017]

Yay no CL football for us next season. So with that out of the way, I hope we can concentrate more on the league without having to worry about CL football next season.

As for Eulolpa league, just play the youngsters in there.

I'm happy we haven't made the CL. We definitely do not deserve it.

If you lose a few of your key players in the summer you might find yourself in the situation of needing to win Europa to qualify for the CL again. Not a competition that should be taken lightly anymore imo.
Meh doesn't bother me in the slightest, I think we are resigned to losing Sanchez at some point. Ozil can go for all I care, he's been utterly useless when we needed him the most.

As for other key players?? Like who?? We have quite a few deadwood players as it is.

You cant and wont just play youngsters...its not just the games its the limited time in between to prepare.

Surely its just as much about keeping the top players you have over the summer (Sanchez in particular?)
I don't see Sanchez staying for longer, do you?? He wants to win titles and we cannot provide him with a team that can do that at the moment v

Yeah it will be a blow but if he doesnt want to be there id rather have Iwobe play his heart out instead. Love Sanchez but something needs to change and he can have just as negative an impact on players as he does a positive one when its a tough night

True and that's why I don't think Wenger will take the competition that seriously. Similar to the league cup where he doesn't really care if we get to the final or get knocked out early.

I really hope Arsenal embrace the Europa League though, Theres a couple of Spanish teams that did and its made them so much stronger domestically so the opportunity is there

Same here, quite relieved as it just means the same old crap over and over again.

We definitely didn't deserve getting top 4 especially how we started the second half of the season.

Quite a few arsenal mates of mine are also happy that we won't have CL football next season.

Hopefully Claude Puel will be gone by tomorrow. Pathetic manager, losing at home on the final day and he takes an attacking mid off for a defender.

Absolutely clueless, hopefully good riddance.

100% cant agree more. The same old crap hasnt been good enough for a long time. Thats why I think if we can really make this a new era, work on this formation which is clearly giving more players the freedom the want, bring though guys a little like Maitland-Niles ect then we could be a lot stronger in a years time, they need to look forward to the change though and accept it

Personally think Ozil is more of a negative impact when he doesn't want to be there (and a lot more often imo too) than Sanchez , but you might have a point

Yea true but when Ozil is around positive players he is a different guy. You can see how awesome the link up when both happy and as soon as Sanchez is complaining the link up play goes away, but I agree with you too in some repect

Never in doubt :o

We actually started the game really well and could have been ahead in the first few minutes. It seemed as though as soon as news spread that Arsenal and City were winning we **** ourselves and started to panic, taking pot shots from 25 yards. Great goal by Firmino on the stroke of half time - his first touch to get on the end of his own pass was fantastic and an excellent finish. Getting the 2nd straight after HT then killed the game and the only complaint there on in was that we didn't score 5 or 6 - had we not been trying to set Lucas up for the entire time he was on the pitch I suspect we might have done so.
