Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22 - 26th December 2012]

Appalling, the players we have out on the pitch. The top two scorers from last year, two very expensive wingers and we can't score a goal in 45 mins of almost complete dominance. Fergie is just not getting the best out of these players.

Despite being poor today, I think we were certainly unlucky to not get a second goal after hitting the bar two or three times today.

Too many poor performances today especially from Wayne/Valencia and Swansea played well but I think we were unlucky to not get another.

Jesus christ get a grip.

I liked it better when you were away for match weekends, we won then too.

Needed to be at our best to win today and we weren't, Rooney delivered what can only be described as a performance of a pub team player that second half :o

Yeah it's Fergie's fault Rooney had a mare :o

But it wasn't just Rooney was it? It was Rooney, Valencia, Young, Hernandez (and RvP was hardly great) You'd be hard pressed to say anyone had a really good game out there.

We made barely an attempt to change things up (simply sticking with the formation and putting a striker out left and letting Young have a bash at being crap on a second wing) and our final attempt to change the game? Stick on Giggs and Scholes, the same thing he tried at Norwich which failed utterly then as well.

We just lack a plan B at the moment, we keep trying to play two wingers who are both massively out of form and it is not working.

Aston Villa XI v Chelsea: Guzan, Lowton, Baker, Clark, Lichaj, Holman, Westwood, Bannan, Herd, Weimann, Benteke

Chelsea XI v Aston Villa: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole, Azpilcueta, Luiz, Lampard, Mata, Hazard, Moses, Torres

Luiz playing in midfield again? He did well there last time I recall, hopefully he'll perform and keep Mikel out/keep himself out of defence. :p

This is a reasonable take on it, we were alright today and probably would have won were it not for a few dire individual performances. Rooney was bad but he always offers the chance he might do something special. Young, Valencia and Evra on the other hand were shambolic and are never going to win you a game out of nothing.

Fergie has to cop it a bit for leaving Young on and ruining our momentum bringing Scholes on with minutes to go.

A final note is that Jones is NOT a right back, he is so bad going forward and gave Valencia no support at all.
