Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22 - 26th December 2012]

AVB's Spurs are one of the worst to watch I've known, clueless. With the players available it's bewildering how we are so dull and boring.

I think that is more to do with the loss of modric and VdV than him. Dempsey and Siggy have been hugely wanting as replacements.

Urgh.15 corners in the first half and we haven't scored yet.

Villa defenders love defending but their midfield is just woeful, can't keep the ball at all.

I didn't think it was malicious at all. The ball we there to be won, he was simply slightly off target. If you look where the ball is when he slides in, he could easily have taken the ball had he hit the right trajectory.

Looking at it in the slow motion replay, you can see how it has done the damage but it didn't look like it was intentional at all to me. I may be biased but I would like to think not...

Not saying it was malicious but more a foul you see every week that defenders do to stop an attack knowing they pick up a yellow card. Just happens to be that Antia was caught really bad :(

Hope he ok

We need to get to 3. 2-0 can change to a draw oh so quickly.

We had a nice bit of luck but Sandro did so well to intercept the Benteke cross for the setup of the second. The man is indispensable.

Yeah, the sort that would have brought out an easy yellow if he wasn't already on a card and if it wasn't so near the end of the game.

That was lovely. Well done Spurs.

Kudos to AV for becoming more attacking in the first place and not doing a Stoke on us. First half had AV looking comfortable. 2nd half AV attack us and look good, we get a bit of luck and the goals start to flow.

Sean O'Driscoll sacked by Forest?

yup

NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Here's a statement from Nottingham Forest after the sacking of manager Sean O'Driscoll.

Chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said: "We cannot speak highly enough of Sean as a man. He was appointed at an extremely difficult time for the Club and can count himself unlucky to have lost his job with the team just one point away from the top six.

"With the January transfer window approaching, we feel it's the right time to make a change.

"We are looking to bring in an ambitious manager with Premier League experience."

Abdulaziz Al Hasawi, who was at The City Ground for today's game against Leeds, added: "The timing of our decision may look a little odd after the win over Leeds but sometimes you need to make changes with the long term future in mind.

"Sometimes those changes need to be made from a position of strength rather than weakness and that is what we are trying to do."
