Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22 - 26th December 2012]

This match is showing how bad Carrick is as a defensive midfielder, there are just giant holes when they're coming forwards. Jones keeps having to move out to stop them in areas that Carrick should be covering.

Started well, turned into utter ****.

Evra can't defend at all, again at fault for a goal. Young and Valencia are both playing appalling, get one of them off for a midfielder or Hernandez.

Carrick, Cleverley and RVP have all been very good, unfortunately though it's been Young, Valencia and Rooney who have bee getting in most of the good attacking positions and they've all be very lethargic. Unless things pick up I'd like to see Rooney moved wide left with Hernandez coming on up front

Agreed.

I'm back, who perma'd me last night? :p

lol at Evra for the goal they conceded, huge stonking gap called "Evra's not here" and Evra holds out his arms like someone else should be there watching the guy who strolled past him without making any attempt to sneak in behind him, Evra utterly ignores him then complains no one picked him up. Evra is diabolical in defence these days.

I haven't seen enough of Butner to see if he's any good, but ultimately Fergie should be picking out a capable replacement and playing him ahead of Evra. Bang Evra on the left wing if you want, but defensively he's a complete joke.

Rooney has been abysmal, Young has played fine, comparing Evra passing to Rooney in loads of space to Young having a pass intercepted because the gap was tighter and the Swansea player reacted is daft. Young is also doing FAR more work at left back than Evra(or effective work I should say). Valencia has been utterly terrible, you can see just from the chance he had to shoot, ball bounced out towards edge of box, loads of time and space for Valencia to volley the bouncing ball with a power shot at goal and he ended up losing it for a throw in 20 yards from there instead of shooting. Has had loads of decent set up passes for him to cross first time and he's refused and passed backwards eventually instead. RVP, also no idea how someone could say his passes are going nowhere. All the good breaks and good interplay has involved RVP, he's created chances, the goal, made good runs.

Utd should win this but its not a certainty by any stretch. Rooney and RVP dont look like they are playing on the same team.

Of course we should win it. Rvp cost more than the Swansea team combined! The question is, will our awful defending be countered only by Swansea unclinical finishing or will we buck up and add our own quality in the final third.

How do I add someone to my ignore list?

I think I've finally snapped on Ashley Young being the best thing since sliced bread according to a certain poster.
