Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23 - 25th November 2013]

I thought a tackle from behind regardless of getting the ball was a foul :/

Was just about to comment on that. Getting the ball doesn't mean it therefore can't be a foul. Nasri was still in with a shout of getting the ball even after Sandro got a touch. Sandro tripped Nasri with his follow through - it should have been a pen.

I can accept that a tackle from behin could be an auto-pen regardless of whether the ball is touched by the defender but the second part of that is nonsense. There are loads of tackles, not given as pens, where the defender brushes the ball and takes out the attacking player, despite that attacking player effectively still being in a position to control the ball but for being wiped out by the tackle.

I know there's plenty of times when they're not given but they should. Refs don't want to give pens at the best of times let alone when they'll have endless cries of 'he got the ball'. It's just a get out for the officials, just like they won't give a pen if an attacker doesn't go to ground even when he's being fouled.

Sandro is such a beast. He gives everything for the cause.

Yah that is reasonable, but in such a critical area of the pitch trying to get the officials to hypothesise what would have happened after the ball was touched is probably asking too much and introducing even more subjectivity into an already tough decision.

I don't think getting shots on goal has been a problem for us so far this season, they've just not been going in. Look at the Newcastle game for instance...

AVB needs to get players running off the ball. All the spurs players just watch as a Spurs player starts a dribble and commits the opposition. It is like a Gareth Bale hangover.
