Listening and reading Queens Park Rangers fans comments, it seems that the opposite was happening, it seems like the football club was going backwards and the influx of new players was only exacerbating the situation.
I've only seen QPR play twice I think this season, they were terrible on both occasions.
So, in short, I disagree with pretty much everything you said that that sentence.
You've seen them play twice, so make sweeping generalisations? Also you are quoting fans... who are by and large stupid and most fans from most clubs dislike short term loss for long term gain.
Its pretty simple, Warnock had a fairly steady squad when they joined the premiership and even got a couple wins off form and playing positively... ultimately the lack of real talent showed very quickly and results took a nose dive. Did Hughes get instant improvement when he joined like O'neill.... no, it took time idea's, training improvement, real improvement, takes time.
Real improvement(assuming the players aren't good enough) takes time, and new players need time to gel. Find and download a video of for instance the first game after the transfer window shut, and the Arsenal game, or the three before that and you'll see a completely different team.
Ultimately they had 3/4 of their first team defence out for a fairly decent amount of the season already, they rebuilt the team and the short term effect of rebuilding a team, is it gets worse.
Think about any other team in the league, if Utd replace Rooney, Ferdinand, Carrick, valencia, Rafael and De Gea tomorrow, with Drogba, Pedro, Alves and Valdes tomorrow, do you think that team would play better or worse in when they don't know each other, haven't played with each other and have played different tactics, with a different team, in a different way.
Last seasons QPR improved drastically over time, but it wasn't a team that could do particularly well in the league, the team they put together, a couple duds, Park was a complete failure, others aren't, Diakete looks good, Mbia looks good, Hoilett we already know IS good, Granero looks pretty excellent, Cisse can be good, Taraabt's form is improving, Bosingwa doesn't look great, but better than what they had, Caesar actually has looked pretty much brilliant.
Caesar, a world class keeper who is now showing that form, his first game was terrible and his second game wasn't great, since then, he's been fantastic. The team they have, fit, and with a bit of time can easily stay up.
Fans want the O'neill effect, instant turn around in form, but then want it too stick, it generally doesn't happen. QPR had meh players, very very meh players, and that team with any manager wouldn't stay in the prem league for long, to make a team that does, it needed to be rebuilt, anyone who thinks that takes days, is mental.
City with half a billion took 4-5 years and the initial turn around was very slow, but steady and City were a vastly stronger side than the QPR side that got promoted last year.
QPR can put out what
Caesar,
Boswingwa, Ferdy, Mbia, Traore,
Hoilett, Faurlin, Granero, Taraabt,
Cisse, Zamora.
That is the start of a really very decent team, brilliant, no, european challenging, not far off, will they take time to play well with each other, absolutely. That team isn't bad, due to injuries, bad luck and a couple stupid reds, that team hasn't been played much if even once yet, and won't be till Feb with Zamora out.
Most of that team is now fit, give them a couple games together, and training with that team with everyone fit, and that team can become pretty decent. Ultimately you go backwards to go forwards, its common, its also common that people don't like the idea and can't see why buying a new team doesn't instantly play well together and whinge about it.
Can you honestly say that team I listed, which is the team he's put together, isn't miles, and miles, and miles better than the one he had last year?
