Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [24th - 26th August 2012]

Hopefully Liverpool can get another before the break because they've got a lot of momentum at the moment and City are shaken.

If it stays at 1-0 I can see a second half fight back from City.

Carrick on Fellaini... and now Kolarov on Skrtel... you're just asking for trouble if you're marking like that! :D

Mancini "I've got a title winning team with two quality cb's, couple great fullbacks, couple average fullbacks, one crap one, and a crapload of attacking talent..... I think I'll change to a 5-3-2 to load up in our weakest area and leave out some of our best attacking talent".

Genius, put a manager in a winning position, Redknapp nearly top half way through a season, Mancini wins a title and has to defend it, and watch a pressured not good enough manager randomly abandon winning tactics to try and defend your position.

Of all the times to use this formation, when you put Koralov and a not match fit Kolo its the worst possible time to go with that formation.

EDIT:- You guys really should put one of those dog collars that shock you on Suarez, but shock him when he shoots to teach him to pass instead, selfish little git but he can't shoot for **** :p

Jesus, Quinn is such a pratt, Sterling had hold of his arm with both hands while pulling him back, but it wasn't enough to stop him it was just Balotelli being "cute", Quinn is probably the most irritating commentator of the lot, how the hell do these guys get these jobs.

Good first half from liverpool. Sterling looked impressive and we actually played nice football. Still, city have bags of goal up front so we need to go for the second.

Hmmm decisions, go to bed and find out the score before work, or stay up and watch the second half and go to work tired :(

As expected complete game raisers as usual, dominated them 5-10mins before the goal and there after, even with arguably our most important player for this game injured.

Still another 45 to go though.

I think mancini would be trying to negate liverpools full backs, but milner has looked pretty useless and kolo toure looking overwhelmed

Good to see some energy in the liverpool team with sterling and then shelvey, downing has been so poor for so long

Not looking good for city but would probably back them to get back into it in the second half

Deserved lead, sterling showing yet again why downing should not get back into the team, Suarez just please finish a chance. Shame about Lucas hope his injury isn't serious. If we keep it up and get a second hopefully result go our way

Liverpool 1-0 City HT

Much better performance than last week. Passed the ball well, maintained a high tempo and created a few good chances. Hopefully we'll continue in the same vein in the second half because you would expect more from City in the second half.

Positives
Joe Allen - Didn't think he was the type of player we really needed but he's got one hell of a football brain. Quick to spot a pass, rarely got caught in possession and likes to get stuck in.

Sterling - Run rabbit run. Produced more in 45 minutes of football than Downing did in the whole season last year.

Negatives
Lucas - Hopefully he's not too badly injured but it's another setback in his journey back to full fitness.

Suarez - Looks short of confidence and hasn't really been at the races today. Needs a goal and more support from the players around him.

Gerrard - Excellent corner but I'm not convinced he's got the legs to play this style of football anymore.

Good 1st half of football. Man city's 3-5-2 isnt working at all and Sterling looks like he has the beating of zabaleta(sp) everytime, so much that so that they are doubling up on him (wish he was a bit older so he could play every game).

Defence looks a bit loose though, and I wish Shelvey would stay on his feet..just don't tackle son!

It does baffle me that City are playing wingers and sell Johnson, he is such a better wide player than Milner. Sinclair plays on the left so won't address the issue on the right.

So Lucas injured himself in the warmup and they decided to take a gamble on him?

Sounds a bit risky with a player only just back from injury! Assume the physio knew what he was doing though.
