Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [24th - 28th October 2014]

Eto'o looking like a very good buy, it's a shame that financially speaking Arsenal couldn't match the offer everton made to him, shame.. maybe if we increase ticket prices again we can bring in a decent striker next year instead :p

Eto'o regardless of age is just a great player, one of my favourite strikers ever. Dismissed as a poacher all to often, his link up play is great, his movement is worldclass and he's a threat from anywhere.

eto looking good. Its going to get awkward if he has a better season than his £28mil team mate.

No it won't, Eto'o is one of the best strikers football has seen, Lukaku isn't 22 till the end of the season. One of the best strikers ever who is merely older but still has all the talent will make 99/100 strikers look poor in comparison.

No Costa/Remy is a blow but that Man U side (with the exception of Di Maria) really doesn't look that strong.

That United line-up is meh, the only player who has shown anything of note has been Di Maria. The rest have been rubbish.

At least toon fans on here will appreciate the result....

fair play to Newcastle. Just shows how bad spurs are at the moment? Terrible performance get us out of the europa league.

Spurs lack the confidence that Tim Sherwood gave them imo.

68% in spurs favour and what 1 shot on target?

utter dog ****

Feels a bit like a lot of Southampton performances last season, dominating possession but a bit toothless in the final third. Pochettino doesn't have much of a plan b if his overwhelming pressing game isn't breaking down the defence.

poch insistance on not playing with width will continue to punish us. really really frustrating. we've got depth and he wont rotate?

dier was clearly nackered. we don't have another rb but a makeshift would've done!

Pochettino needs at least a year to get the team playing how he likes, he has changed the whole style of play at Tottenham will take time before the results start coming in.

Rodgers was dreadful in his year at Liverpool but towards the end of the first year the performances and results did improve eventually.

Win, lose, or draw, Pardew doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon so I suppose we'll just get back to supporting the team instead of the opposition (Nemtizz may disagree).

Two rubbish teams out there today. Hopefully after that first half Pardew will realise that without Tiote we need Sissoko's power in central midfield - Anita and Colback will be overrun by any decent side.

Maybe one day he'll realise that Gouffran doesn't do anything, but that might be too much to ask.

Happy for Perez. It was always going to be tough for him today and that goal wil do him the world of good.
