Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 27th August 2017]

Very good but frustrating performance. We should be out of sight given the way we've played and chances we've created but poor finishing and our tendency to do stupid things at the back means it's far from game over.

Can and our midfield 3 as a whole has been fantastic again today, the sooner we get his contract tied down the better.
Salah really can't finish very well can he

He's literally put it the only place cech can save it, so so poor

If he could finish he'd be in double figures already this season. His ability to be in the right place at the right time is uncanny but his finishing has been terrible.

I wasn't really sure when he signed, and most of last season he was very inconsistent but so far this season he's been superb. Juvé can bugger off!
I was very harsh on him last season but once we stated he was playing through injury his inconsistencies made sense so I eased off, I really feel we need his contract done now.

Yep, Wenger should have gone but they've put him ahead of the club and will more than likely pay the price this season. The players aren't playing well enough but they are his players.

Obviously I disagree Wenger should have gone, there aren't many managers that would have been able to do better given the circumstances.

Not true at all, you are selling Arsenal short as a club. Let's see if Wenger can inspire the players and turn it round in this second half...

I do love how Wenger is defended so much, he has kept arsenal stager for last 5 seasons, last season okay you got the cup (which I feel should be valued more) at some points in life change can be needed/good imo that's the point arsenal are at

Christ there are still Arsenal fans that believe this?

I thought last season was the perfect time for him to bow out - we have the resources, we made good signings, the fact is that he is not getting the best out of these players. We are tactically niave, he again has picked the wrong line up, and these are his players.

What circumstances? Having a settled squad of players you assembled yourself and millions to spend? Its hardly the most challenging job in football.

This is painful to watch. Arsenal have no system, nothing exciting. No idea what their trying to do.

We are selling defenders when we are weakest at the back.

Cant wait for Wenger to go.

And Ozil.... is a passenger. No point keeping him.

Why is Lacazette not playing?

Arsenal would go for an experienced manager, in which case it would be surprising for that manager not to attract different players on his own merit - even if they havent actually played for him elsewhere

As Henry just said "stagnation" is Arsenal's biggest issue, most outfield players just couldnt be ****** today to do very much (on that first 45 minutes anyway) - god forbid actually work for each other.

Also given how bad the results have been its hard to see an incoming manager getting any worse results than Wenger is getting at the moment - and it could be argued the performances may well be better also

Not selling them short at all but when you have a toxic atmosphere, its not really a decent environment to win.

Circumstances as in the stadium move. Have you read any articles about what happened behind the scenes when the emirates was built?

Yes, definite stagnation, Arsenal fans are told there's £250m to spend, I don't see it. It's not like UTD, is it? Arsenal don't have an open cheque book

LOL neville : "theyve taken ramsey off, which is a shame.........coz he was going to be man of the match"

Hahha Neville has got his sarcasm on point today

Is Ramsey injured? Why would he not bring anothet midfielder in...we are bossing the midfield.

Arsenal have three players playing who just don't want to be there. Ozil,Sanchez and Ox are not signing contracts....Mustafi on the bench is clearly on his way out. How is that healthy?

Thats 10 ******* years ago. Enough is enough. I commend him for getting us through the tough times then, I really do, but thats not a free pass for the ****show we see week in week out.

You need to research if you think it was 10 years ago.
Arsenal aren't going to win anything unless there's a mentality shift from above, fans need to realise that. Change managers when the time comes, but the new manager won't win the PL and CL either

Despite the fact that falling out of the Champions league wasn't directly related to our performances last season, I think all in all it's right that Liverpool get the place as they have a system and look exciting and like a TEAM.

For the record, I blame Arsenal's failure to finish in the Champions League spot down to our collapse following the games against Bayern last season. We went on a loosing run. Incidentally the player looking to leave because of no Champions League was probably the root cause. Sanchez's hiss fit was at the root of the teams collapse following those games.
