Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 28th October 2019]

Karma for Calvert Lewins pen at Anfield the other year. It was worth waiting for too. If only I stopped picking Everton to win in the prediction league.

I don't understand how it's possible for VAR to get decisions wrong, they have multiple angles and can watch them as many times as they like. The penalty Brighton got was very soft, Keane had his eyes on the ball the whole time, at worst it was a bit clumsy. Also, if they're going to give the Brighton penalty then they have to give one for the Brighton player holding Richarlison. Then in the City game the KDB goal should have been ruled out if Silva got a touch (which is what the premier league have decided), because Sterling was in an offside position by the point Silva got the touch. Imo the only decision VAR got right this weekend was retrospectively sending Bertrand off last night.

It's good that they're actually starting to give decisions, but they've got to get them right.

I spoke about it last week. It doesn't matter how big a mistake the ref made, the only way a decision will get overturned is if the refs explanation for the decision doesn't add up. Using the Richarlison penalty appeal and the one that was given to Brighton as an example - I assume the ref told VAR that he'd seen the grappling and wasn't 100% confident enough to award the pen, whereas the pen given to Brighton I assume the ref has said he's not seen the push at all.

As for whether it was a foul. It doesn't matter how softly Keane pushes him, he pushed him. The Brighton player hasn't instigated the contact by barging or backing into him, Keane's just tried to gain a slight advantage by giving him a little nudge and he's paid for it.

The Brighton one was a penalty, I don’t see how all the pundits are saying it’s shocking? Keane has trod on the foot that Connolly would have used to attempt to control the ball....yes it’s accidental but it’s still a foul.

Personally I think yes Richarlison should have had a pen as well, but it does all come down to what the referee has seen. That does need some work, if it’s a pen, it’s a pen.

Ox and Keita out, Henderson and Gini back in.

Really disappointing selection, this midfield three don't work well together and Henderson's form of late has been poor.
