It's not just Suarez but Sturridge too. 50 goals is give or take what those 2 scored between them last season and we've been without both for the majority of this season.

I said on here the other week, everything that could go wrong re our direct replacements for Suarez went wrong. Lallana and Balotelli were the 2 that were meant to take on most of what Suarez contributed. Nothing more needs to be said about Balotelli but the Lallana signing hasn't been much better. He's done well in patches but has been dogged by persistent niggling injuries. Throw in Sturridge's nightmare season and we've been left short.

i remember when liverpool signed balotelli and comments such as "£16mil? bargain!" were banded about

not so much now. he makes soldado look like shrewd business.

Why has Lambert got so little game time this season? His goalscoring record throughout his career has been pretty decent, surely he would have got some goals this season?

We need Rodgers and Benitez to blend together to form some kind of super manager.

-Benitez with his top club international experience and player pull.
-Rodgers with his man management and ability to work with younger players.

I haven't got the energy to start over with another manager :(

It's a wake up call for the owners imo. I'm not saying Liverpool have any right to be in the CL, but clearly that was the intention when they bought the club.

They might be in 5th spot at the moment, but the squad is a long way off being regular top 4 material. We've been comprehensively out played by all the top 4 clubs, except City.

The sums required to compete at that level now are huge. Not only in transfer fees, but wages too, especially when you don't have the lure of being a regular CL team.

Personally, I'd be questioning whether the investment required makes sense.

They missed a golden opportunity last season to capitalize on a success. But like other positive seasons before, the club gambled and it backfired massively. I've never been a big believer in bringing in a lot of player in one summer, but it now looks like they've got little choice. It's not really much good telling the manger he needs to sell to buy either. There's not a great deal worth selling, and the few decent player they have are not going to be easy to replace.

Not many positives to take from this season. The football has been mediocre, and the results have been worse.

It's a minimum of a new keeper, 2 center backs and Suarez quality forward. I hate to think what the bill would be.

Keeper? Simon has been excellent, more so considering the utter shambolic defending that goes on everygame.

Best signing we could make is a defensive coach, striker and a midfielder is a must. I think we have the defenders, its just the whole team defends very poorly as a unit.

I fear for Rodgers really, its going to be a stick or twist situation for the owners this summer. There are managers out there who are available this summer, there might not be by this time next year. I think that may put the owners in a difficult situation of having to decide whether a managerial change will be a help or not and whether to gamble on an alternative being available if needed in a years time or to take an alternative now while available. I reckon there will be some big conversations going on behind closed doors in the next several weeks

Man Management? Do you have any exampls of this mythical man management from Rodgers as I can only think of hodgesonesque levels myself. As to his ability to work with young players, every manager worth their salt has this ability, Rodgers is nothing special in this regard. If anything he is destroying certain young players confidence.

Will the Klopp go to Liverpool I wonder? I hope not as I want him at United in a few years.

Madrid would potentially be in for him, but is he the type of manager they go for? Not sure myself.
Man City can be a possible but I think they might give Pellegrini another year to 'prove himself'.
Arsenal, will Wenger step aside or will he back himself to go for one last push and have a proper go at the title, theres also the European monkey on his back.

So that leaves us and some Italian teams to slug it out. Apparently he has an affinity for us so..

Its really hard to say where he will go as for every argument for a particular team there is another against.

I think that there is little doubt United would have gone for him last season but with LvG I think we have our manager for another year at least.

Liverpool may be in the market for a new manager but does Klopp want a team that needs a lot of rebuilding work without much of a budget that has the potential to be another Dortmund in the transfer stakes.

Arsenal simply won't sack Wenger and I don't think he will leave for at least another 5 more years. I imagine he will retire there.

City are another team that would benefit from a manager like Klopp but I don't know if they are the sort of team he wants to manage. I doubt they will keep Pellegrini after this season but perhaps they will give him another chance.

Real Madrid are impossible to predict. If they get knocked out of the CL in the semis and don't win the title then they probably will sack Ancellotti but who knows with them. Again, I don't know that Klopp wants a mega bucks team ruled from above where he is not allowed time to build and change the team.

Hopefully he will take a year off, realise he wants to manage United and we get him at the end of next season after LvG has won the league and CL (perhaps a domestic cup) and retires on a high.

Hasn't he said before he doesn't want to the the mega rich team in a league i.e. Real / Bayern / City / Chelsea? Whether that's because he doesn't want the expectancy that comes with money, who knows, but I'm sure he's said something to that effect.

Our 'budget' puts anything Dortmund can muster to shame, most PL clubs can spend more than Dortmund can

I know... but I don't know what your point is here. Liverpool don't have the spending power to bring in the best players and they need a fair bit spent on them if they want to get top 4 let alone challenge for the title which I assume is what Klopp will want to do where ever he goes.

I wonder if Dortmund fans will feel a little betrayed that he has left them as soon as they are out of europe for a season?

as mentioned above, he has said he doesn’t necessarily want a team with a massive budget, he just doesn’t want his players sold from under him year on year to a league rival, which is what happened whilst at Dortmund.

We don’t need massive surgery, the basis is there for a top 4 challenge we just need a manager that knows his best formation and knows how to set a defence and midfield up.

From what I've read the Dortmund fans don’t feel betrayed at all (they could also still qualify for Europe), but after nearly a decade managing the same team he just needs a new challenge.

Will he come to us? Who knows, but we would be massively negligent in not at least sounding him/his agent out about the possibility. He's a huge upgrade on Rodgers (who I want out regardless).

Irrespective of finances or Champions League football, I think one thing is certain when talking of transfers and that is that I believe players would be more likely to want to sign for Klopp than Rodgers. However, unless Liverpool lose most of the remaining games I don't see the owners sacking Rodgers, in which case they will have to hope that if next season is a flop there is still a viable managerial option around. I'm not one to usually call for a managers dismissal but at this point in time I would rather see Klopp on the touchline at the start of the season than Rodgers. Not because I necessarily think Rodgers is poor but because I think Klopp is better and would have a bigger impact on Liverpool's immediate future than Rodgers
