Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 29th November 2011]

I want to see Berba start and chico used as a suber sub. Not really impressed with Chico as much as I thought I would be. He really is one dimensional when it comes to football. He only has one trick in his bag and thats goal poaching... Well maybe his speed and headers too. Not exactly the next coming of Ole.

Berba is class, why the hell isn't Fergie using him?

I said this over summer, two things happen to players like Hernandez, firstly defenders gave him too much space, and were getting used to him, this season they are watching him closer, and looking to play against him a little differently than last year.

SEcondly he scored a few goals from offside last season IIRC, but he's offside a lot, the other set of people getting used to him is linesmen and ref's. last year he was just that guy, this year he's "that guy who was probably offside" and is less likely to get the decision, IMHO.

Frankly a lot of his "runs" come from simply running early, getting caught offside 9/10 times, but that 10th time the defenders didn't get it right and he gets a great chance.

He's now got his offside reputation and the rest of his game is pretty poor, his passing was awful today, either painfully slow to decide or just passing it straight out, or behind players.

Berbatov well, might score less but a Rooney Berbatov partnership would IMHO have a lot more goals, but with Rooney scoring a lot more than he is at the moment.

Berbatov should leave, Fergie not playing him is laughable, but only as laughable as the fans who all turned on Berbatov for not being an identical player too Rooney.

Fabio put in yet another game where(like Raf) he just looks a liability, doing stupid things, cynical pull back late in a game when the other team has plenty of yellows, most ref's would have yellowed for that, there was no danger there at all, a shattered Ba with no pace against two CB's and no support and no one even trying to support, madness.

Just seen Wheater's red card tackle, not pretty.

Does anyone know what the song was that played after the Stoke v Blackburn converage finished? I think it was something by Snow Patrol?

Cheers

I didn't watch the match, no idea if we were lucky or whatever else but..... GET THE *^^^ IN!!!!!!

Don't care how we got it either staunch defending, great attacking or whatever else all that matters is we got points and are still up there.

Everyone said we would be found out these matches, we wernt shamed in defeat against City and a point against ManU?! ******* love it! Haway the lads!

As for the poor performances as long as the team is wining I couldn't care less, you don't get more points for winning with flair and you certainly don't win anything in December. Let City have their moment now and bitch come May if needs be but we were unlucky against Benfica and it sounds like we were unlucky today

It's all well and good to say that, but if you then can't raise your game when you play a slightly better opponent then you don't win those games. We struggled past Sunderland and Swansea and then couldn't beat Benfica. I'm much more concerned that our performances are poor week in week out than our results. We couldn't even beat Basel and you would struggle to call them a good side.

If you look at our matches since the Bolton victory we've hardly looked convincing in any of them (with the exception of the cup matches against lower league opposition) It's a massive concern, it's more than just the midfield being weak, the defence is the leakiest it's been in many years and the attackers aren't taking their chances.

jog on! :D

What was impressive for me was that we won that game without VdV and Modders, out two most creative players even though we have notoriously always struggled away to the baggies.

Yup good result for you today. Totally called it (so far at least) on you being the better of the Liverpool/Arsenal/You trio who were generally figured to be fighting to 4th. Levy surely can't believe his luck after potentially seeing CL slipping away without more investment, only for Chelsea and Arsenal to decide to get **** (granted Arsenal are making a charge now finally but they had such a poor start), and let you right back in it.

Not that I think it will happen but how funny would it be if Spurs pip Citeh to the title, largely thanks to 20 goals from a player they own and are paying 50% of his wages :D

At least with him on loan he can't play against us :p TBH title talk is still alien to me.. City? Title? Nawwww!

Fabio was generally very good today. Yes, theres still some polishing off to do, he did make a couple of silly tackles. But if you can't see the potential this 20 year old has...then I'm not sure what to say really.

Watched the newcastle, man u game down the pub (on sky italia or something aha). Man Utd were definitely the better side but to say newcastle deserved nothing would be harsh. Pen was definitely er, not a pen, mind.

Very happy to see Grant Holt on the scoreboard again for Norwich keeping us going :)

albion spurs game was very good, albion could've won at times but yet again, spurs winning mentality wins the day. great stuff! shows we don't always need modric and vdv though it took us an hour to play properly.

This games reeks of post-midweek CL blues. Ramsey should have put at least one away but everyone's a bit slow. Would look to see someone have a crack from outside the box too (as ever).

I just can't see us catching City, they don't look like dropping points in easy games like we do. Every game is a massive test for us at the moment and we're just not at all up to it. There's no lineup consistency in any area of the field, partially due to injuries, partially due to Fergie tinkering.

My god you throw in the towel early, this is even earlier than last season when you made the statement the title was over because with the run in you had you couldn't beat Chelsea to the title.

Then come may fergie is a god again.

Thoroughly disappointed with linesmen with that penalty decision. United played well but you could tell it was going to be one of them days, all of the chances which we had just had a NU player & keeper there to stop it or just wide, so frustrating. Even more so considering all my predictions came in with the exception of Arsenal who are playing now...:(

Also someone stupidly threw his brew at the linesmen in the second half, took the officials a few minutes to figure out who it was and took him away. He was from the south stand too (lower south stand, most expensive ST afaik) so god knows what will happen to him, probably lose his ST & banned for life? Idiot!

I haven't thrown in the towel, I just said I can't see it. It would take them suffering a terrible number of injuries really. Especially if they go out of Europe, they'll just be able to concentrate on the league.
