Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 29th September 2015]

If someone had offered me a draw at the start of this game I would have bitten their hand off but it still stings a bit to give away a 2–0 lead.

Promising performance though. We just need to maintain that first-half tempo for the full 90 minutes.

I wouldn't take a 2-2 draw against a Barca/Real combined XI if we were 2-0 up while in the relegation with the almighty sum of 2 points. Our once a season decent 60 minute performance is rewarded with a point, awful. If we don't get relegated the PL is dead to me.

You know what we're like, man. We'll be feeling sorry for ourselves now and continue in the same negative, brainless and heartless way that we've been approaching games before this. I wish I could feel good about it but I don't. Mbabu's performance level was promising though. Very solid debut.

I know where you're coming from for sure. The next couple of games will be very telling.

If we can take the positives and a bit more belief out of today's performance we might start building some momentum. The alternative is exactly as you describe and we'll spiral towards relegation.

I said chelsea would come back.... Such a shame they did.

Newcastle beating chelsea would have been incredible.

The thing is, that Ramirez strike was top-class - no one was stopping that one.

The free kick was the disappointing one, so predictable.

The depressing thing is even with a win we'd still have been in the bottom 3. If we persist with wanting to be a football club we would have an 'ok' run after the City game. Time will tell of course but I think this is finally our year.

lol, Utd fans still upset they got Martial instead of Pedro?

The idiots maybe his age was wrong for what we needed you know when ADM arrived all i could think about was this is the player who once famously gave the ball away 90 times in one match, And has a world class talent and ego to boot. Fireworks were bound to ensue with Van Gaal United NEVER have luck with big foreign buys our bread and butter under Fergie/Busby was making people stars like Ronaldo. And low and behold returning to identifying the top young players in each bracket ( ST CAM LW) brings people like Depay and Martial and Shaw right into the first 11 at an age that is reminant of the 92 class.

Hopefully next year the trend continues with Janujaz returning, I mean look at Smalling also!! Very happy :D

That's a big shame. I saw it at 2-0 and was thinking Newcastle would hold onto it. It would have been great if they did. I'd rather Chelsea get the 1 point than the 3 though so I'd have taken that draw this morning.

MOTD is going to be a good show to watch this evening!

ADM gave the ball away 90 times in one match? That's mental

Not sure what you mean by reminant but did the 'class of 92' all just go straight to the first team?

No doubting how Martials performed but now all this no doubting him garbage people are coming out with is cringeworthy, how many were defending the purchase on here that are now gobbling on his nob

Wouldn't you expect those defending the purchase to have believed he had the chance to be very good in the first place? Shouldn't you be asking who was saying his price was insane and he was never worth it are now saying how brilliant he is?

As for no doubting him, he is what he is. He's a 19 year old who is already a very capable striker. This isn't someone who signed and got a few lucky goals, this is someone who performed at a higher level than several very good players game after game, for the whole game, creating chances for himself, others, scoring, winning the ball, showing strength, turning players, shielding the ball, driving at goal, beating players.

Just about anyone can fluke a few goals in the first games then never get another goal again, but few play this damned well. This suggests this is simply his current level and there is no reason to believe he'll get worse as he plays more. How much better he gets is entirely up in the air, he may have peaked, he may eclipse Ronaldo... it's likely somewhere in the middle, this is effectively only his 3rd season and probably the first year he'll make 25+ league starts(barring injury), to be this good this early is insane. it would be pretty normal to progress and get better in the first few years of solid starts which he still has to come.

Your second and third paragraphs are irrelevant I've already praised him he's done fantastically well.

Re the first, yes I'd have expected them to defend him from the people laughing at him knowing he'd work out now they're on their high horse, they aren't though, or maybe I didn't read the transfer garbage thread enough
Also yes that second sentence, I'm sure they exist but they'll never admit it and I have better things to do than search old threads
