Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26 - 27th October 2013]

This is a historic season for United at least. Look on the brightside and all that.

We have players that would get into other teams in the top 4, we just don't have a style that ties us together. We didn't really under Fergie but its becoming very obvious now. We have players who want to pass the ball and move whilst the guy next to them wants to run with it, then we have wingers who want to put in crosses. The team is just a mish mash of players that fit a certain style of football but a very different one to the players around them.

I fully expect united to pull this back. I think Stoke will try and sit back to defend their lead which will allow united back into the game. Hopefully I'm wrong

Only Rooney and van persie would command a starting place in the other top 4 clubs

I'm happy enough to give moyes till the end of the season as long as we are looking like fighting for top 4 but at some point you have to accept that we should be doing better. Certain managers and certain players are not right for top clubs. We have bought plenty of world class players over the years that have flopped but been great elsewhere, managers are the same.

Smalling throws the ball straight to them then fouls the player...

Young and Valencia warming up? I don't see how more poor crossing against a huge team is going to help

The team should have enough quality to beat the likes of Stoke, Southampton etc.

It can't all fall on Moyes head - there are many many players that aren't performing. Unfortunately he won't drop RvP who is one of those. If we stuck Rooney up top, played Kagawa in behind it'd allow us to have a left winger too.

Give up with trying to shoehorn Wayne/Kagawa/RvP, it doesn't work and RvP has been pap, despite moments of glorious goals.

No, Southhamton and Stoke are completely different sides to last year. Not easy games at all.

Whilst Southampton are on a good run of form and are looking solid, we're Manchester United, the champions, it should be a win.

Stoke couldn't score for toffee before this game so I'm not sure how they are a completely different side, if anything they are less solid!

The boos for Nani are a bit off.

Suarezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :D

Jog on.

You don't think by the end of the season that most clubs top strikers will have a similar stat against two of the bottom three and one also not particularly good club? How many goals did Saurez and Sturridge have against the worst 4 teams you played last year?

But if you want to pretend playing two of the bottom 3 and a relegation scrap team from last your constitutes the best opposition they'll play this year, go ahead.
