Europe? Dont get ahead of yourself, there's still a lot of work to be done and we have to keep Benteke first. I'll be happy to be challenging for top 10 tbh but with our recent form and with how tight it is we could yet finish 10th :o

I get this impression also, but after their win against Newcastle he did point to all the players when the fans were singing his name, but he comes across as a bit of a pleb

Year of not being threatened by relegation would be a start.
 
i don't know how much remy is on at qpr but i expect it's high or something we wouldn't match. benteke has a levy signing written all over it and he'd probably flop at spurs.
 
Remy to Spurs I hope. Would be a steal at up to £8m.

On a side note, still note convinced Wigan are going down.

How many other clubs would be interested in Remy though? You would hope that, particularly if they get CL football, the lure of playing at a top 5 club may reduce his wage demands.

As for Benteke, I imagine he'll cost a lot but if you're scoring in that Villa team you must be able to score pretty much anywhere.

I really don't see how it's so unrealistic, I did say IF we patch up our defence. We've dropped a massive 30 points from winning positions this season. Now I'm not saying we'd have won every single one of them of course but even half would have put us ahead of Liverpool and 5 points behind Everton. Granted this is all based on conjecture and even I think Europe was a bit of a stretch looking back (:p), but 6th isn't completely out of reach with our attacking players and a solid defence. Let's not forget players like Lowton, Westwood, and Vlaar have either come up from league sides or from an entirely different country so we'd hope these kinds of players would improve next season too.

We haven't been in trouble really until this year. If we float around 10th/11th/12th without really looking in trouble then after this year I'd happily take that. It's going to be a big job rebuilding but we've not really had a leader all season and with a very weak defence this struggle isn't surprising. Smart transfers are needed, but only a few to sharpen up the defence because our strike force of Agbonlahor/Weimann/Benteke is quite frightening for pace, strength and quality.

£70k we'd probably stretch too. we were interested a couple of years ago i believe he visited the ground. he's looked a bit sporadic to me but then he is playing for qpr.

benteke looks good at villa, big unit, tough to handle, not sure how well he'd fair at another club. i don't know if lukaku is 'available' or if chelsea would even sell to us but a front 2 of benteke and lukaku would be a massive change for spurs and one i wouldn't mind us atleast giving a go if we could sort the right deal. adebayor to villa in an exchange? he might bang them in for villa. michu would be ideal too but then it all depends on cl/keeping bale. we need a playmaker even if bale does stay.
 
If anyone buys 'barndoor the way he's played this season and, in particular, the mentality he's shown, as well as his ludicrous wage demands, I will be unbelievably surprised.

that's the beauty of being a footballer. no matter how ****e you've been recently, you always have a past with some good bits. we'd sell adebayor with not too much of a problem imo. gutted qpr got relegated as i was hoping we could've shipped him there.
