Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th April - 1st May 2019]

The only good thing about this latest run of results is that it keeps the reality of this team in focus and perhaps allows for more of a wholesale change. If United had bluffed their way to top 4 spot it may have preserved the careers of some players who are patently not up to it.

Well after wanting to lose against City to deny Liverpool the title, even if it cost them CL footie, no sympathy from me for Utd.

The fans have got what they desired. Sweet FA.

UEFA should just take away the 4th English entry. It’s embarrassing.

Arsenal, United or Chelsea would just embarrass us representing our league anyway.

De Gea is getting slammed but why is no one complaining thats the defenders did nothing and were close to blocking the follow up

We expect better from De Gea, the defenders are all trash.
Can't be long before you stop expecting better from him. He was terrible at the WC and the odd game aside, he's been a million miles from the keeper he has been. It's not just the mistakes he's been making but the saves he's not been making too. Goals like Bernardo's in midweek, you expect a top keeper to save and more often than not he's not been making these saves this season.

Yes, something is up with him... I imagine it's transfer related to some degree. Being with the Spain squad seems to mess him up too.

I’m the opposite, I think we should have 5 spots.
For the size and quality of our top 6 clubs sure. But based on form / recent performances god no.

So many gutless and clueless performances. It's honestly been embarrasing watching the top 4 race. Everton, Wolves etc deserve it more based off recent events. Next season might be different but the decline of Chelsea, Manu and Arsenal as the seasons gone on has to make you wonder what next year will be like.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal are in the europa league semis, and the favourites to win it. Can’t be that bad in Europe.

You Liverpool fans aint half cocky for a team that hasn’t won a major trophy in 13 years!
I guess you're classing the FA Cup as a major trophy now to pretend that Arsenal have won 1 in that time? :p

And we clearly haven't been embarrassing in Europe. Last years finalists and into the semi again this year, while picking up 91 points and counting.

1? Try 3 :p

And we’ve been europa league semi finalists two years in a row, so we can’t be that bad.

Perhaps the performance at the World Cup has affected him. It was the first time in years he made a howler and since then he has continued to make high profile errors. He still has enough in the bank for me but I hope he gets some support for any mental issues that might be lingering. He's still the only one I think is genuinely world class in our squad.

I don’t mean to sound harsh, but a world class keeper like him should be able to cope mentally with a poor performance in a tournament. It’s the resilience and mental strength to learn from your mistakes and come back stronger that helps make a world class footballer.

I didn't say you'd only won 1 FA Cup, I was saying without counting the FA Cup you've not won 1. And yes, you're doing ok in the Europa, best you stay there ;)
In all honesty, I’ve had enough of the europa, it’s horrible to play in and too much disruption. If we don’t qualify for the champs league, I’d rather we drop out of the europa too and just have a season concentrating on the league.

Wow after losing to Spammers yesterday I expected one of Chelsea or Arsenal to pick up a win. Thank **** they are even more rubbish that we are! Citeh and Liverpool have been head and shoulders above the rest of us.

Our recent results have made me realise even more just how crucially that Auba penalty miss against you will hurt us. It would still be in our hands if he had slotted that away instead of crapping himself.
