Great defensive performance by Stoke but so lacklustre from us today. Salah scores from his chance in the first half and it may have been different but we've barely created a thing. Players look like they're going through the motions before Wednesday.
Poor performance by us but I suppose it must be distracting playing lowly Stoke whilst knowing that winning your next match puts you into the final of the Champions League. At least importantly it looks like we got through a physical team without any major injuries.
Another flat performance from us just like last weekend and another terrible performance from the officials. A lot will be said about the handball in the 2nd half but the foul on TAA in the first was far more blatant and another example why forwards exaggerate fouls - he's clearly pulled back by the Stoke player but because he tries to stay up and get a shot away the ref didn't have the balls to give the pen.
There was a really interesting comment from Sky's commentators early in the 2nd half when Peters was pulling Salah's shirt in the area - supposedly you can pull attackers shirts as long as you don't do it for too long
Henderson: It looked a clear penalty, on the TV it is blatant. If his hand isn't there Alberto is there for a tap in, so it is a poor decision from the referee and the linesman and it has cost us three points.
Lambert: Listen if that is a penalty we may as well all just have left. It is never a penalty. You can understand Jurgen's frustration about it but it's no penalty.
My view is that it's a cross that's going towards two Liverpool players for an absolute tap in. The defender has his arm stretch out from his body and is a fair distance away from the crosser. He can't get his arm out of the way in time but it shouldn't be out like that to begin with.
He's stopped a goal scoring opportunity with his hand in an unnatural position so shouldn't be aloud to get away with it. If it's on the half way line it's given everytime. Why shouldn't it be given when he's denied us a goal?
Really disappointed with Newcastle in the last two games. I know we’re safe now but it definitely feels like we’ve taken our foot off the gas. Monday nights are never good for us so I kind of put down the Everton result to that, but today’s performance is simply inexcusable.
Should be a red, not even a question. Absolutely destroys him for no reason and the ref is looking directly at it. Not sure who was worse there, Ayew or the ref.
