Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [27th Jan - 1st Feb 2012]

Watching replays, the dive in the Blackburn game, and the dive in the Arsenal game, where the ref was for both, unless they weren't watching the ball they just can't be given as fouls, pathetic, both so incredibly obvious.

Just seen the penalty again, as you say, looked "soft" to say the least, the player didn't even make much of a meal of the contact. Simpson jumped a bit over him but many a time you'd see the other player throw himself to the ground and pretend to have been killed, almost nothing, I can understand it being given but...... soft is a good description.

yeah Arshavin has the ability but when the arsenal defence is on the rocks the last player id want on the pitch is Arshavin, the best ive seen him play lately was the Leeds game and i think he only pulled his weight in that game because he new Henry was coming on and he didnt want to be the one subbed for him, as soon as he losses the ball he just seems to give up. yeah its hard to get in form when your not playing much but he should know that the better he does when he actually plays the more chance he has of getting picked, not just come on run around for 2 mins and then just stand in the same place and wait for a pass for the next 20 mins

That's the problem, he doesn't and Arsenal players all know he doesn't, If he comes on and scores 3 goals, and sets up three more, Wenger WILL drop him for Walcott, he knows this, anyone who knows Wenger knows this.

He has his favourites and they play no matter how crap they are.

Arshavin was in WAY better form than Walcott and Nasri, was playing great, setting up more goals than anyone else(including Cesc at the time) and was dropped for pretty much Walcott. Hasn't been back in the team, he was dropped, at his best, for a utterly turd player, and no matter how long said player is utterly awful, Arshavin still doesn't get real chances. That's been the same for 5 years, with Denilson/Song/Diaby getting starts when fit over vastly better players. Anyone that "gets benched" at Arsenal knows there is no way back, and they play like it.

I don't blame Arshavin in the slightest, he's the latest in a long long line of players randomly thrown away for crap players Wenger randomly thinks are better, if Wenger stays, he won't be close to the last either.

Put it this way, I know that Arshavin given a real run of 5-6 games with the impression he won't be arbitrarily cut, will get back to his best, I know that Walcott will never, ever get better, he's lazy, stupid, and not very good at football. I'd take 3-4 games of crap performances from Arshavin as he gets back to his best or even just good form, than Walcott being crap for every game from now till he retires. One is trying to improve, one is accepting being rubbish and doing cack all about it.

Glad Krul saved.

Another **** ref decision, if these things balance themselves out as people claim we are due a few soft penalties and favourable refereeing for a month!

Not looking forward to second half :p can't believe we didn't add more to the squad!

FULL-TIME: SPURS 1-0 LIVERPOOL. We've beaten Liverpool in the NextGen Series thanks to a second half goal from Shaquile Coulthirst.

whhhhhhhooooooooo

I just watched that. We absolutely ****ing hammered you and missed chance after chance. You then pop up with a shot which our keeper fumbled and tap in the rebound.

lol, Messi has been hogging the ball all the bits of the game I've seen, ignoring pass after pass, not playing well. Now he missed a penalty that could have taken them 2-1 up.

Arsenal suck, Newcastle lucky to not concede when Blackburn beat offside trap and Krul ran miles out. Sunderland 3-0 up, lots of rubbish football on show tonight.

aren't we both doing pretty well in the (youth) cl equivalent aswell?

Qualified from our groups. That was a one-off knock out round. I didn't watch any of the Spurs games before today so I can't say how well you were doing. You were more than a bit fortunate today though.

Hilarious and true. I felt the same way about Pav and Crouch/Keane

villa all over QPR, shot stopped on the line, another shot blocked, Bent had a good chance that he fluffed.

Arsenal, no idea what kind of pass that was from Ramsey, everyone in the box, he chipped it wide, no one there.

This might be our first "real" look at Henry, 22mins + this time, last game he barely moved and got a shot, then a pass wrong and that was about it.

Seriously, Ox off though, instead of Walcott...... its a god damned joke. Walcott again has been horrific and Ox has been a threat, so take the wrong player off.
Wouldn't like to guess how much of Benny's wages we're actually paying, I wouldn't be surprised if he's costing a lot, and Walcott is still on. I'd take Coquelin down the right instead of Walcott, but no.
