Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [27th September - 2nd October 2019]

Who do you think you will get better than Silva? What do you think will be achieved binning managers every 18 months or so after backing them in the transfer windows? Has it been forgotten already at Everton all the seasons you spent 20p in transfer windows on loan players? You can't keep spunking money on new managers and set ups and then sacking them 12 months later.

Is it exaggerated because Liverpool win win the league at a canter this year?

First of all, I couldn't care less what liverpool are doing. Liverpool have been way ahead of us for such a long time, that to suggest my feelings towards Silva is because of 'pool seems very odd.

I think the large Everton fanbase didn't want Silva to start with. Just to give you an idea, since he took over, we've conceded most goals from set pieces. We haven't won a game with him in charge once we go behind. He doesn't have a plan b, and he doesn't drop players who are poor in form.

Everton are in a tricky position. They're trying to bridge the gap to the likes of Arsenal and Utd but the cost of doing that is so difficult to justify unless your first name is Sheikh. Everton could keep spending £60-70m net per year and still keep finishing 7th-10th because of the money the big 6 have. They've had to be a bit creative and take calculated gambles on players like Richarlison, Mina, Gomes and now Kean and Iwobi, players that potentially could be top 4-6 players but that the top 6 aren't fighting for.

You've got to give Everton credit for how much backing they've given Silva though, far more than I ever thought, but a consequence of the money they've spent is that they've committed themselves to giving him the maximum possible time to put things right. If I were an Everton fan I'd be very concerned about Moshiri/the boards willingness to keep spending what they have if the Silva appointment doesn't work out - at some point they're going to stop throwing money at chasing rainbows.

I wouldn't have fancied being on the end of that tackle.

OK he got the ball, but the follow through could have been very nasty.

Can't see Leicester losing this now, should be a rain sodden walk in the park for them now.

Always amazes me how Bruce keeps getting jobs at premiership level.

All he has achieved is getting a couple of teams promoted/save from relegation, mainly by employing hoof-ball.

Maybe that is enough for some clubs.
