Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th April - 2nd May 2012]

Most of our defenders are championship standard at best, but I don't understand how Elliot Ward even made it to being a professional, let alone part of a midtable premier league team.. He isn't quick, he isn't a good tackler, he isn't a good passer of the ball and isn't fantastic in the air, he must player like a god on the training ground as he manages to get picked almost every week..

Maybe, but with Whitbread and Ayala out atm who else would you pick? Russ Martin maybe but then if we need him to cover for Drury getting crocked again we're ****ed

Firstly what does posting in here have to do with anything anyway? I could be at The Emirates every other weekend for all you know, what does it have to do with anything? I think you'll find I've posted here during plenty of Arsenal losses and I've also NOT posted here during plenty of Arsenal wins as well, again, what's your point?

Just out of interest did you post much last year? :)

You bring it up like a petulant child when it had no part in the discussion going on led me to believe you thought it was important, hence why I referred back to it. God forbid it would interrupt your preaching though!

If you want to come in and chuck accusations about someone's posting (not touching on support as you didn't) check your facts first ;)

Back on topic now that he has been dealt with. Toon were a disgrace today, ref was baaaaaaaddd but we were ten times worse than any ref could ever be! Well done on Wigan though keeping up their form, really impressive! Hopefully we can pick up again Tuesday but it will be really difficult. Regardless Europe this year?!?? Great job lads!

How comes you guys sent De Laet back to us?

Think he was injured wasn't he? Either that or United needed him when they had almost all of their defenders on loan, injured or suspended..

I thought Russell Martin was fantastic, don't see why he is being put on the bench as cover when really he should be in the starting 11, also what about Leon Barnett? He isn't fantastic but he is still better than Ward... Ayala and Ryan Bennett are young and show potential, we just need to buy an experienced, premier league standard centre half to put in there with them to teach them and help them develop into better players.

Marc Tierney looked good when he was playing, however if the rumours about him and Steve Morison's wife are true, he won't be playing for us again and that could explain why Morison(along with most of the team) have being playing so poorly recently..

Jelavic (£5.5m, 10 games, 8 goals) has scored more PL goals than Carroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam combined (£80m, 125 games, 7 goals)

I do think it's quite funny that certain posters only post if the team they support is winning / doing well and then disappear when they're not doing so well.

Also, never knew we had this many Chelsea fans on the forums until recently. Amazing how they all appeared :)

I don't post here if MU are doing bad a lot of the team because it's just not worth it - there isn't enough sensible and valuable discussion to be had it's just mindless **** from supporters & fans of other sides.

I also don't post if we are doing well though sometimes, just depends what I'm doing of a weekend :D

(Just thought it was an interesting point, because a lot of posters are like that and are blatantly so)

Separate note, De Laet was injured with his back, came back and then in Jan he had his loan cancelled, I think due to the injuries.

Also No1newts is mad and funny :D

Whenever David Moyes has a little bit to spend, he has a knack of buying a good player, however whenever he is given a larger amount to spend, he wastes it on the likes of Saha who did **** all for Everton. Possibly one of the reasons why David Moyes will never get a job at one of the big teams..

Grant Holt (£400,000, 29 games, 13 goals) :P

And if you look at the amount of money the club has earned due to his goals(2 promotions and midtable in the prem) and his far smaller wages than the likes of Caroll, he was an unbelievable bargain.

Not a bad draw today, hopefully win against Norwich and we will be looking quite good.

The Stoke fans though, still boo'ing Ramsey, really? :/ makes you wonder.

I didn't post in here for a few hours whilst I cooked and ate dinner, is that allowed?

:p

The results today for us and Arsenal have given both Chelsea and Spurs a great chance to re-balance the fight for 3rd–6th.

I do think Newcastle have been fortunate recently, not because we've been winning (that's down to our awesomeness ;)) but because the teams around us have been dropping points in games where they should really have been getting the full three.

I don't expect either side to lose tomorrow and then I think equilibrium will be restored.

The game against Chelsea will be the real test for us, I hope today was a wake-up call and we pull ourselves together for that match.

As for Newcastle fans, there's quite a few of us. Some have been around longer than others – Newts, [DOD]Asprilla, ad, (Visage before he was permabanned) bigpig, woppy, myself –have I forgotten anyone?

I don't have any friends who are interested in football (never mind Newcastle) so I use the forums linstead of going down the pub and talking shop over a pint. :)
