Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th Sept - 3rd Oct 2012]

**** me, that's one of the worst halves of football I've seen from United. Fergie has got the line-up completely wrong in my opinion, you can't play so many old players against a team with Spurs' pace. Giggs on the left wing against Walker and Lennon is mental, Valencia would be a better option, and Ferdinand looked past it in that half of football. Can't see us winning anything with this team to be honest.

Apart from Valencia being injured of course......

True but got no choice but to play ferdinand all other defenders are injured again.

Well yes you do need to know that if you expect Fergie to buy players if he doesnt have any money to do so!

and Dembele (by reports over the Summer) didnt want to come to Utd, so its irrelevant

Actually you will find "better than we have" usually does, simply because it IS Man Utd calling, and therefore prices go through the roof.
This isn't something that's happened over night, we've not had a great centre mid for years. Do I think he's not bought better central midifelders over the last 4 or 5 years because he's not had the money? No, because I'm not stupid, I think he's chosen not to because he thinks what we have already is good enough, which in my opinion it really isn't.

I'm not into this making excuses and speculating on why we may not have bought players simply because I don't want to be critical of my team. If I see a flaw as gaping as our midfield, I'm always going to call it that.

Dembele was exactly the sort of player we needed, physically strong and good on the ball but instead we signed two number 10s in Kagawa and van Persie. The most galling part of this is EVERYONE thought signing Dembele would be a good move, it's not a surprise.
