Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th September - 1st October 2017]

It's inevitable he will end up there, his stock hasn't fallen despite his tools at Newcastle and Liverpool fans are week on week getting to the point where Wenger MK2 is getting on their bits. They will look to Rafa and he can walk away with ease, in fact it's the perfect launch pad back to Liverpool as he can blame the chairman and the fans will lap it up.

Imagine the **** fest in the press also. If we get a couple more decent results and continue to look like a football team they'll be begging for it to happen.

So since Liverpool giving us a spanking, they have gone backwards whilst arsenal are getting some momentum at the moment.

Coutinho must be well ****** off that he didn’t get his move to Barca lol

Benitez won't be coming back to Liverpool.

As for today, very similar story to ever performance from the last few weeks. Not playing our best but still creating enough chances to win games and having zero luck too. You can't criticise the officials too much because it was incredibly tight but Newcastle's goal was offside and we should have had 2 pens in a matter of minutes for fouls on Matip and then Lovren from successive set-plays. It's just the way things are going for us right now - even in the Leicester win we were on the receiving end of some terrible decisions.

I can't help but think Klopp's tinkered a little too much though. We need to get back to playing a settled team for a run of games, build a foundation and then rotate as and when. We're changing keeper every other game though!

Utd and City seem inseparable this season.

I'm not sure how it'll pan out. City are better going forward but we have more versatility in terms of having more powerful players, which Mourinho can use to his advantage.

The Liverpool game will be interesting, I think we'll defend deep as their main threat is on the counter, and then use the powerful players to create problems for them defensively.

The good thing is with Lukaku and one of Martial/Rashford, we also have runners in behind so we aren't restricted.

I think not.
Well let’s be honest since we offloaded him to you for a stonking good price, we are doing much better. Compared to you lot who seem to be going backwards at the moment.

Not saying Ox is to blame but I was joyous seeing him head the ball over the net, done that a fair few times when he played for us.

I think at the moment City are a level above us. We haven't had any hard games yet and we looked really suspect a few times even when the scoreline suggests otherwise. Liverpool will be a good test but I think until we play Chelsea, Tottenham or City we won't know much. We need to get Pogba back asap as well because Fellaini struggles against decent midfields.

After Saturday everyone in the press seems to think Fellaini is the 2nd coming.

Even with his two goals, some more control in midfield with Herrera instead - even if he didnt score himself - would have set up/created more goals than we lost through Fellaini not playing (and we would either be completely equal top, or actually top on gd).

I know Herrera played 90 minutes in Moscow but he has played so few games he should have been raring to go despite this (although we are lacking in CM options, with Carrick who can barely move at any pace and Pogba out until end of Nov if rumours are true).

No disrespect meant - but we usually cope pretty well with Spurs, but yeah Chelsea and City games will give us a better indication of where Utd is right now.

I wouldnt be surprised City , Chelsea and Utd are all pretty close by the end of the season - depending on injuries etc going forward of course.

edit - REALLY not looking forward to the Liverpool game already, we drew Stoke away after the last Int break mainly imo because Bailly and Jones werent playing in sync with each other and we also lost a bit going forward. I wouldnt be surprised if due to the early kick off and being at Anfield its a bit of a disaster for Utd even with a few players not being called up and therefore fully rested.

Agree. It's been a good start but not many testing teams. I would say after 12 to 15 games we will have a good idea

I agree we are still fragile in some areas and have just been riding it a bit in some games

On the flip side City always come firing out the blocks and then dip... it's a long season. Also the Chelsea they played wasn't as well rested (that's not to say Utd would have done better/as good as City).

To be fair even if Utd don't win the league I'm just glad we're back to winning ways...

They just have a better quality deeper squad than we do.

Against who tho ? You have played teams you should be beating, your biggest test is against us in two weeks.
