Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th - 31st August 2014]

I'd give him time with the system. He's been up front that it will take three months, and he's a much more experienced manager than any of us. If you're not firing by Christmas then start whinging.

Well we can add Burnley to the list of teams that have outplayed us so far. This formation has to change. We simply don't have the players to do this at the moment. Switch to the formation I suggested earlier and we'd be giving ourselves a much better chance.

I can understand him sticking with it if it was the start of the transfer window and he was slowly integrating new signings but you are 5 players at least from being able to play this system and the window slams shut in a few hours. I understand his 3 months to get used to my way, but he just doesn't have the players and time to carry on like this until January.

de gea stuck in glue on that free kick. that's either poor positioning from him or he thought it was going over.

He was covering the other post. It was a decent free kick and the wall wasn't entirely in the right place from what I could see.

He also couldn't have picked a better starting set of fixtures. Even with recent issues I didn't expect them to lose a game in the first 6 let alone struggling for draws against EPL canon fodder.

I found it amusing when the commentator said that Burnley's first aim is to score 40 points (ie. avoid relegation). I'm thinking Man Utd are struggling against a team hoping to avoid relegation?

I think its funny how many people are trying to get a rise out of United fans by saying "its a relegation battle game lol"

has he categorically said ''3 months''? school boy error if so.

LvG has a lot of confidence in his methods.
He has done it at Ajax, Barca and Bayern.
He doesnt see Man Utd as being any different.

But Man Utd fans need to keep in mind that this is only our 3rd PL game, using an experimental system with half our 1st team not available.

His "3 months" quote to me meant that we would beat most teams in that time but we wouldn't play at our best of perhaps do so well against the best teams around. I didn't see it as an admission we were going to struggle to beat the minnows of the league.

It's just a guff system i think, too complicated for the back 5 and far too negative..

It's also Wierd how utd fans saying were much better, you were poor last season and it's carried on lvg is a quality manager but the shambles of squad he was left with it won't turn around in one season.

I know they didn't have much to spend, but surely Burnley could have brought in a better striker than Juktiewicz. He didn't even look great in the Championship.
