Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

Bristol City are a safe bet to win? They're dire. That's got 0-0 written all over it.

Weebull, thought you followed results in the Championship? City have turned a corner, they've done the double over Southampton in the past month, including beating them at their own ground last Friday (Southamptons first loss at their own ground for ages) as well as getting some other good results around the first win over Southampton, been off the boil around then, unlucky results..

Millwall are on a freefall. I'd say City will win.

You want them both over played rushed and injured, especially Gerrard.

Said this before the season started. It was like he had to spend the money as fast as possible in case anyone ran off with it. Some of the most shocking waste of money on a group of players I've seen in one transfer window.

No i want them both on at half time, I said there sat on the bench cause they are also as some one else sarcasticily pointed out way KD does subs we wont see them till stupidly late on

I've said it before he came to City, but if I could be any premiership footballer I would be Barry. One of the most underrated players in the premiership.

City 2 LFC 0

We have been poor from the pressure we did make we were predictable just passed it side ways, Henderson has done some good balls through and crosses.

Downing yet again is showing me nothing as to why he is supposed to be any good. We have no pace on the pitch what so ever. Spearing has done nothing the entire 45mins.

Reina should have saved the shot by Aquero rare mistake by him none the less.

If Gerrard/Bellamy can manage 45mins they need to come on now.

I'd like to be Barry too; carried by 10 extremely good players most of the time. I can't think of one aspect of the game he's better at than Parker and I don't even rate him that highly.

Love the way the commentator says Spearing making a meal of it didn't help Barry being booked, replay shows spearing being tripped then getting straight up. Does anyone at sky monitor how bad these monkeys are at commentating?

City are happy to sit back and let us have the ball knowing full well we won't do anything with it. They look like scoring every time they get forward.

Need Gerrard, Souness, Barnes, McManaman, Fowler and Suarez on at half time or we're ****** although I'd be happy with anyone for Adams, Carragher perhaps.

We've probably played the better football but the lack of a cutting edge up front, a mistake and a set-play and we're 2-0. We've done enough to show that if we can get the next goal, we can still get something from today, especially with our fresher legs late on.

On their first goal; it'll go down as a mistake but you've got to be a tad sorry for Reina with the way the ball moves and then dips in front of him.

I do, but I'd missed all the games over the Christmas/New Year period. I guess I stand corrected then. :o

Southampton aren't all that though. There are quite a few teams in the Championship who have looked quality at times, and then woeful just a few games later. Your lot included.

Think this ref is trying to pull the "Worst ref at Etihad" award away from Atwell.

Adam is running around pulling people down and Barry brushes past Spearing and its a yellow for what his 2nd tackle. Adam has done far more tackles and gone unchallenged.

Must say i loved Aguero's first. Like against Swansea he has a knack of hitting the ball fantastically to dip infront of the goalie.

Barry should have got a yellow earlier for a cynical pull earlier in the half :/

Adam should have been booked though but so should have Silva and probably a couple of others. The ref's tried to keep his cards in his pocket at every opportunity by the seems of things.

He is great at mopping up, being casually dirty and is one of the most professional players in the world.

He isn't a player the fans like but England are poor(er) without him, City don't work as well without him and Villas decline stemmed from him leaving.
