Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Mar - 2nd April 2012]

Well still top, but have to beat Reading its bigger than Portsmouth at home next Saturday.

Sharp out, Lambert and Lee can't come back quick enough.

Absolute gash today, deserved nothing. Pity Vermaelen basically gifted them the goals since they didn't threaten that much when he was on his feet. Better perk up for the City game and hand the title to United by taking some points.

Seems like West Ham and Southampton have slightly easier run-ins imo.

WH only have Brighton and Birmingham from the top 10
Southampton only have Reading and Boro.

West Ham have Leicester and Hull who, despite both doing poorly today, will not be easy games. Reading have Brum, us, Brighton and Leeds which are all difficult games.

Saints have Portsmouth, Palace, Reading and Middlesborough who are all big games too. (should travel well to Peterborough and beat Coventry at home)

No one has an easy run in, but Brighton on form could do us a favour ;)

It's all down to having a fit squad and "taking it one game at a time" (bit of Adkins speak)

Portsmouth and Palace have got nothing left anymore......forget about them;)

Pomp our biggest rivals fighting for their lives in the champ?? :p

Palace is just asking for us to slip up two days afters, but we should win... Hopefully... They gave us a good run at the home game.

Still quietly confident but can't think we have won just yet.

Preston and their management are ****.

Yep! Terrible terrible team for the lunchtime game, Madine and Antonio impressed me though! Antonio was with us 2 seasons ago and got one of the goals in the jpt final so its good to see where he's going now

Preston and their management are ****.

Your guy scored 2 nice goals today, I saw the highlights. Nice finish especially for the first one.

I actually have Sheff Wed to be promoted in my season bets- To finish in the top 2: Man City, West Ham, Sheff Wed, Crawley, Wrexham. Put the bet on before the season started.

Preston turned up, time wasted from kick off, defensive and negative football. Horrible. It really annoys me, it's such a bad tactic and it ruins the game.

The referee was absolutely shocking too, far too stop and start. No flow to the game and made some baffling decisions too boot.

As soon as we scored (which was inevitable as we were the only team attacking and playing for the win) the time wasting stopped and they tried to go forward more, too little too late.

Really disappointed with Preston, I know their manager is **** and a **** but meh.

Pleased with the win, I see Sheffield United 'won' :o cheaters.

Preston were doing nothing for the image of lower league football, oddly their manager is showing up the ability of the Stevenage team he left behind and not his own ability at all.

Hope they end up going down to l2 as they really were quite poor

Bendtner was again excellent and Larsson who has been a touch quiet for a while was brilliant again back to his best form. The 3 goals were all very good, and the second game in a row Bendtner put in a solid header into the corner, not saveable by the keeper..... something he did for Arsenal before and after we got Chamakh.... who we started to play instead of Bendtner hoping for some aerial ability, madness.

Shame they didn't get the win but they played like most teams against Man Utd in the past decade, get to 70mins in then just drop so deep, leave someone isolated upfront and stupidly never actually pass to that person and just invite the pressure on. Had they had the balls to push a few people forwards and press out from the back frankly with City pushing so hard they could have ended up in a City vs Utd situation, getting a couple more at the end.

Arsenal, lol, crap all over the pitch, defensively awful, Vermaelen was all over the place and could very easily have gotten a second yellow in the build up to the second goal and only the goal maybe saved him, and yeah, I'll say it, thats the first team to actually turn up since away to Milan, we got big headed again, didn't work hard, were lazy, reacting to everything rather than pressing and intercepting and lost to a fairly rubbish team who played well and worked very hard.

West Ham, total rubbish, concede two stupidly and quickly right before half time, in a game they basically had to not lose in and ended up conceding four.

the hell is wrong with arsenal? fair enough if QPR played a blinder but sounds like they diddnt and we bent over and handed QPR 3 points?

what happened to arsenal? how did we lose? was QPR awsome? or was arsenal back to their standard selves?

Been out all day!

People have been laughing at the DM theory of "no one has showed up against us", if Liverpool won 7 games except one game against Arsenal in the middle that would be one thing, but they didn't, Liverpool, Spurs, were crap before we played them, crap when we played them and have been crap since we played them. It's not a coincidence they were only crap against us, because they weren't, they've just been crap.

This run of games was, blackburn, Sunderland, Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle, Everton Villa and now QPR.

We got thrashed in the first game against Milan then went on a winning run, Sunderland weren't in great form, and probably deserved to win and couldn't play Bendtner, Spurs were abysmal simple as that, liverpool was another game we didn't deserve to win and another game that took a very late goal to snatch victory from a team that played better. Newcastle weren't great but took the lead. Everton who are pretty crap we got a narrow victory against, Villa/Blackburn are just woeful and QPR are honestly the only team to have actually played probably anywhere near their full potential against us and beat us relatively easily.

We looked poor all over, defensively all over the place, offensively pretty toothless.

We weren't terrible and HAD improved in the past 6-7 games, confidence or genuine improvement I honestly can't tell, bit of both probably, but we hadn't improved even half as much as people thought we had.

We truly and honestly just got a very lucky run against teams either in awful form or just "those" games where we got lucky with chances(and lucky the opposition strikers were woeful). If we hadn't started the league run with a 7-1 against Blackburn most people would have recognised the other games for mostly tight affairs of which we got extremely lucky in some and lucky to go up against the likes of Spurs woefully out of form.

Nah, it's Cardiff and above only. Hull have gone to pieces (two losses to bottom three clubs in succession), and Leeds are no better.

Watford are on a roll! Nearly turning over West Ham a few weeks ago...

Of the teams in that could challenge area they could just do it if they get lucky! (Leeds and Hull are rolling down)
