Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th September - 2nd October 2011]

Still he is improving.

but you can now see why rooney threw his toys out of the pram and wanted assurances from the board about investment in the team. he must be sat there watching us play so hopelessly without him realising that he really is the one man team, and just how incapable we are without him.

Dear God. Ive missed you, i havent seen many of your ill-informed posts lately!

We won the league and reached the CL final last season despite Rooney being appently complete pish for 90% of the season.

Now we are a one man team!

Outstanding!

I knew there was a reason I had The Running Man / NickG / Asda thread man on ignore.

Hopefully Wednesday can build on our first away win and pick up three points away to Hartlepool :)

Gary Madine! Goal Machine :D

No no no, will no-one think of Jeff Stelling?!!! :D

I do like Jeff.

I still hope we get the win, I'd rather have three points then a happy Jeff.

Also got the Steel City Battle coming up soon, excited, scared, argh can't bare to think about it.

No! You've jinxed it now. :p

I think we've been quite lucky with our fixtures so far this season. Apart from Arsenal (who aren't exactly in top form), we haven't really come up against any 'major' competition.

I'm not trying to take anything away from the team, it's a fantastic start to the season, I just think our unbeaten record is flattering us a bit.

Time will tell on the 16th of October against Spurs or the 19th of November against Man City.

If we're still unbeaten by the end of October I'll be really impressed. :)

I agree.

But at the same time barring Blackburn and Arsenal (I had to say them :D) we haven't played any **** teams. Sunderland, Fulham, QPR, Villa are all decent teams. We still have West Brom, Wigan, Norwich and Swansea who are among the poorest teams in the league.

We could have had a much more difficult opener but at the same time it hasn't been a cake walk either.

We'll still finish 8-12 somewhere but its nice to see the team playing well for once :) I just hope we beat Wolves because my boss is a Wolves fan :D

4-4-2 please Fergie :)

Fergie has at least said both Chicharito and Rooney are available (suprised about the latter, but utterly thankful)

Thank god Cleverley, Vidic and Raphael are nearly back too - all three sorely missed imo

I would feel sorry for N.C (for a few seconds anyway lol) but Utd REALLY need to hand out an utter thrashing imo

we need cleverly back. when we had him in the frist few games we played great football but now we have carrick/fletcher back its back to the same old.

suprised manu match isnt on tv, against norwich and at home i expect a thrashing.

Been saying for so long, there are two reasons for a 3 man central field and a 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation, either you have Barcelona, or old Chelsea talents on the wing and only one great striker(Drogba with Robben and at his best Duff on either wing is awesome, or Villa, Messi, Pedro/fabregas/ibra/whoever). The other reason is, your central midfield players simply aren't good enough and you try and use numbers to hide, frankly, crapness. For a good few years Utd have hidden the crapness of FLetcher, Carrick, Anderson and while Epic in his prime, a not very fit and too old Scholes(though seriously leagues better than the other three).

Cleverley brought you real invention, reading of the game, positioning, passing and in 4-4-2 with a real central midfield Utd looked awesome, with Fletcher/Carrick back in the fold but without the extra third man to cover them you see exactly how useless they are.

Utd need real cover for Cleverley, though Anderson will do, and a proper DM to partner him. At that point offensively you can easily threaten Barca but defensively you might also have a chance. Give up the chances you gave to Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs to Barca and Utd would have been thrashed silly.

Liverpool team is:

Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Carragher, Enrique, Kuyt, Adams, Lucas, Downing, Suarez & Carroll.

Looks like Henderson has been dropped for Kuyt which has been a long time coming but Spearing should be starting alongside Lucas. Championship players should not be playing in games this big

If Everton are strong through the middle we'll get dominated in the centre yet again! :(

Edit: Bet placed on an Adams red :o

I await for Fellani to get away with fouls like he seems to in every Derby, I do expect us to win today but it will be scruffy and due to the Ref im sure there will be a red card to one of us today.
