Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th September - 2nd October 2011]

As much as I think Sandro is the future of Spurs central midfield, if we're playing 2 up front I'd have him on the bench. Modric needs to play centrally, but until Lennon shows some form our right wing spot has question marks. Saying that if VDV becomes more tactically aware of his duties in that position, the way he tucks in allows Spurs to utilise Walker's attacking runs from deep to provide the width on that side.

As for one up front, I think Parker and Sandro offer probably the most tenacious ball winning pairing in the league. Which could allow the attacking exploits of Bale, Modric and VDV the freedom to play some sensational total football.

Great news Arsenal fans!!

Szczesny is out of the Poland squad for their 2 friendlies because of a back problem.

Wenger probably just pleaded with him to fake an injury and stay at home in bubblewrap. Could be the difference between multiple league positions at this rate!

4 goals in 3 games against Arsenal. As a manager, you've got to play Van der Vaart despite all of his faults.

Having said that, words alone cannot describe my love for Sandro. I'd love to see him get an extended run in the team. He was magnificent when he came on.

If you can't score 4 goals in 3 games when you are one of the main playmakers, against Arsenal, you suck :p Thats not a particularly impressive stat because of how Arsenal are playing, with a bunch of non league defenders.

Sandro was good, but only because he ran at Arsenal like a man posessed, frankly if Jenas had done that he'd have looked great against us, or put Gomes on and tell him to run at our defence/midfield and he'd have done well.

I really don't know why your midfield was so strange in that game, being too defensive, to cautious, did Harry tell them to not over commit, I really don't know. The first goal was from a pass in behind a defender, our defence played the same way all night but Spurs midfield just weren't making those passes, had then done, honestly, it could have been another 8-2.

I don't know why your midfield was so, bad frankly, they didn't seem to interested in getting going down the middle and having Defoe make runs in behind with a simple diagonal pass behind our two retarded CB's.

Its not like Sandro made a killer run from that throw in either, Arsenal just didn't bother to get anywhere useless, Sandro just jogged between them. Song did very nicely run forwards then get out of the way for Walkers shot, leaving a lovely gap in our defence, yay :(

Arsenal of all teams should know that taking maximum points from a game where you haven't particularly played well shows good character and resolve. It's the difference between a top 5 side and otherwise. besides, i don't think we played badly, I thought a draw would have been fair tbh.. We just never got going and you came out of the blocks a little quicker.

I've read this morning that both clubs will be taking action against those that hurled abuse at Addy and Wenger.

And Hibbert received no punishment for his challenge. I suppose you can't expect the FA to make 2 sensible decisions in 1 day.

The way the Everton fans reacted during the game, if Hibbert had received retrospective punishment who knows what might have happened.

Has anything come of the Everton fans throwing bottles/coins etc at players?

FA said they would be working with Everton and reviewing footage to find out who it was. Probably end up getting banned from all football league grounds given how things go these days.
