While you can easily say that Rooney has that heavy kind of frame and you can easily see him running out of steam earlier than fitter players. But then you look at Ibra, the guy is just huge, he's built like a brick **** house yet at 35 hasn't really lost anything from his game at 25.
If Rooney actually got super fit at say 24-25, then the same amount of training he's done since would have maintained that fitness. Instead he was always not, fat, but nowhere near as light as he should be and that has a knock on effect.
For any age Ibra is still killing it, for 35 and constantly adapting to new countries, new leagues and new teams, he's in crazy shape and form.
