Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [31st January - 4th February 2020]

Fewer shots and fewer goals conceded, better attitude/confidence and generally better defensively across the board is what everyone wanted to see and he's done that. The next step is to start improving the offence (now they there's a more solid platform to attack from) and with the end of the busy winter period he has some time to actually work on those things with the players and hopefully that'll manifest itself in the games to come... and given this league campaign was a total write-off before he even took the job I don't mind if it takes the rest of the season to get right. Got let down yesterday by the strikers, as even though the line-up experiment didn't work, both Laca and Auba really fluffed some excellent chances up. :-\

It's becoming more and more realistic that Liverpool could win the League at Goodison. That could possibly send a large chunk of Evertonian's over the edge.

No more than every other one of Liverpools rivals this year. Arsenal fans were surpassed after Man Citys 100 points and Liverpool looking like going unbeaten with an even higher score. Man U fans because this Liverpool side is going to go down as the best side in EPL history. The everton link is over rated compared to how those two will tails spin, other than geography they haven't been rivals since the 80's.

October when I said this team would win the league at a canter people thought I was nuts. The league is weak this year, similar to when Leicester won the league but still this level of playing consistently against everyone put before them has never been seen before. You could make a case that Cities was better last year because they played with far more pressure of slipping up but personally I think this is going to be the best team ever seen.

I think you underestimate the level of hatred a section of Everton fans feel for Liverpool. I can't link it as there's some swearing but if you search "consciously uncoupling" you'll find an article on an Everton fan site talking about ending their rivalry with Liverpool because of all the pain and humiliation they've had to go through. Look at the **** Koeman got for putting red decorations on his Xmas tree. Obviously it's not all Evertonians but there's a section of their fanbase that I genuinely believe would happily get relegated if it meant Liverpool not winning the League.

The only thing possibly worse for this section of Everton fans than Liverpool winning it at Goodison would be if we won it the game before because I get the impression that Moshiri, Kenwright and Ancelotti would be in favour of giving us a guard of honour and Everton supporters would not like that. I know I wouldn't if the shoe was on the other foot and I like to think that I'm not a raging lunatic.
