Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [31st October - 5th November 2014]

Southampton! near the top of the table, blimey.

When you look at the fixture list though, we've only had two big games, Liverpool and Tottenham, both of which we lost. Liverpool we probably ought to have beaten given the performance but Tottenham we could have played better.

About to have a difficult period though, with City, Arsenal and Utd in the space of a week at the end of November then Chelsea, Arsenal and Utd just after Christmas.

This is the make or break time, if we're still flying high after that then I think a few people will start to take them seriously for Europe, if not then it will all be attributed to a flattering early fixture list.

Edit - though looking at Utds fixture list, we're not the only ones who have had an easy start...

I agree with that Kenai. December and Jan are going to be tough for southampton but as long as we do not get hit by injuries I feel our 1st eleven can give any of the top teams a hard game.

James Ward-Prowse and J Rodriguez coming back from injury soon will help as will the fact that Liverpool, Spurs, Everton, Man Utd and Arsenal are not consistently picking up points from the lower teams.

Starting XI De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw, Blind, Fellaini, Januzaj, Rooney, Di Maria, van Persie

Valencia for Rafael. Rafael injured I guess?

Nothing been said (or even rumoured) that Raf is injured

Bench: Lindegaard, McNair, Carrick, Fletcher, Herrera, Mata, Wilson

(As he isn't even on the bench I guess he must be) - although I think LvG wasted a bench spot with Fletcher and Carrick on the bench

januzaj surely has to do something today, he hasn't done a thing to warrant his recent starts.

No Falcao still :(

Even last week Falcao was suspected to be out for a couple of weeks.

I actually though Januzaj did well vs Chelsea (yes a couple of bad decisions but nothing really to criticize him for)

City: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Kolarov, Jesus Navas, Toure, Fernando, Milner, Aguero, Jovetic.

Subs: Sagna, Nasri, Dzeko, Caballero, Clichy, Fernandinho, Boyata.

Kolarov just walked off injured in the warm up

I was just thinking whether Clichy is an upgrade or downgrade on Kolarov, probably not that different - but maybe Di Maria should be on that side today (might also work better to back up Valencia too)
edit thought Clichy was lb sorry
