Who wants to play in the champions league? Sterling? He also has a contract and no one will pay what we want... Simple as that. We bought Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho etc out of the champions league... We'll do it again.

There was the story about a decent Italian team wanting Gary Medel, and were basically going to buy him for x€, but then Cardiff came along and paid £x. Obviously £x >>>> x€, given exchange rates. So you had a fairly rubbish English team easily outspending an established Serie A team.

On the other hand, I'd much rather earn £50k a week and live in Monaco or Madrid, and get to play in the champions league than earn twice that and live in Liverpool...

All jokes aside, its not like you would actually need to live in Liverpool. You could get a place in the country 90 minutes out and just commute in for travel / games.

I know...it was you who pretty much made that discussion about money, when others said players wouldn't come to Liverpool without champions league football. My point was that a lot of players will value winning things and living standards (not that any top footballer is living badly!)
 
He might have been if Sterling hadn't booted the ball out at the back just before he went down.
 
Too many very poor performances today from Liverpool players, too many players being lightweight and far too many stray passes. Sakho, Toure, Allen, Lucas and Markovic have all been very poor and when 50% of your players are poor, this result is bound to happen.
