Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th April - 8th April 2014]

Is Owen on the wind up? 'Debatable'?? That's a penalty every day of the week.

If it was Rooney he'd be saying that it was stonewall, I don't know if he is a supporter or if it's his time there but he comes across as biased towards Man Utd in all of the commentary I've heard, so he probably hates City.

Only just realised Gazzaniga is in goal, this will be Man City's highest victory margin this season I expect, lets hope Saints aren't looking for goal difference to make the difference at the end of the season, as it's about to take an absolute tanking.

:(

It was never enough for Dzeko to go down, but under current rules it's a clear pen. The FA need to clarify the rules on that. As I've said before, players should be able to stick a hand up and appeal for a penalty in those situations rather than having to go to ground.

wow 65% possession to southampton

Nothing unusual, Southampton nearly always have high possession stats, the problem is recently struggling to convert that into chances and convert those chances into goals.

Wouldn't surprise me if Southampton have one of the best overall possession stats in the league but it counts for nothing when you don't make anything of it.

edit - Second best possession stat in the league according to 'whoscored.com' with a season average of 58.2%, behind Swansea, who are another example of how loads of possession is worth nothing if you're not doing anything with it.

hmmm... Ward-Prowse on.

I'd have been tempted to lob Gallagher at them, complete unknown, keen to make a name for himself, seemingly a half decent player too, give the lad a shot.

Even if we dominate this game til the 80th minute and look good for a draw or win, I can see it being another where we don't capitalise and throw it away in the 89th anyway :p

Atmosphere and attendance at City is awful.

Think they're planning to add lower tiers nearer the pitch? Although there's no running track i guess it is an ex-athletics statidum so it will always be an issue unless they bung a roof on the stadium / do some clever stuff with Glass like the emirates
