Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [5th - 9th December 2014]

Its not been a stellar half from any of our players. Literally the only bit of quality has come from RvP for the goal and that was setup by a Southampton player.
 
I don't think the players are to blame, with this formation neither Mata or Rooney have been able to get into the game. It's just asking for trouble, Southampton should be winning.
 
Bad first half from us, thankfully we're not behind.

Expecting a big improvement in the second half, only Carrick has done well.
 
LvG is going to be fuming. This could be a tricky one. He obviously doesn't like Koeman so will his stubbornness get the better of him or will he accept that we need to change to deal with Southampton. I can imagine him screaming at the players at half time but not changing anything.
 
what an unmitigated disaster of a 1st half for Utd

Barely deserved RvP's goal (great poach though), and Southampton deserve theirs totally.

Utd cant pass for **** tonight, fellaini has been woeful, young's crosses are aimed at Southampton players or in masses of space, defence has been a huge disaster

Glad Herrera is on, and while it didn't come off that attack just before the end looked more promising than the 40 odd minutes before it


edit Southampton were a little lucky with their goal (two riccochet's landing just right for them) but it also wouldn't be that much of a surprise that they were ahead , more than deserved

I don't understand why we have won 4 games in a row and LvG thinks that is a sign that we need to revert to 5 at the back which didn't work for about 7 games at the start of the season. Baffling

We had a back five against Arsenal too....

It wasn't a success by any means, but Utd still won

McNair, Smalling and Blackett with Valencia and Shaw outside them started, with Young coming on for Shaw after about 15 minutes


edit - even with free kicks we are giving it away straight away , its absolutely woeful

This is basically the squad of last season plus Herrera. Rojo isn't exactly looking like a great buy so far. Its not entirely surprising this is the performance we get.

I don't get it. Our effort levels are rubbish. Southampton are working harder, making space and beating us in every 50/50
