Surely the point was that Doni goes down to try to stop the ball, the attacker dinks it sideways and Doni has nowhere to go. Was he trying to bring the player down or trying to block the ball?

Yup, absolute stonewall pen, and the ref then had no choice but to send off Doni. Still think Liverpool will win the game though.

Erm... yes it was. Had Doni not brought Hoylett down, he would have had an open goal!

Yeah, I'd call that a stonewall pen. Ref didn't really have any option other than red. Would've been interesting if the Yak had scored but 'Pool will just sit back now for the rest of the game and Blackburn I doubt will be able to break them down.
