Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6th - 11th April 2012]

Hate is a very strong word but Christ on a Pony, I hate Trevor Francis, what an absolute tool this man is

RVP cheeky penalty after Walcott got brought down (didn't get stream up in time to see it), red card for Bassong. 2nd goal was Walcott via a one-two with RVP and his usual placement-type finish.

Against 10 men for 80mins I think we should be alright, although I'd want to see them score as many as possible purely for goal difference and the lulz, obviously.

Cool, I saw the Walcott goal replayed and heard about the red card, cheers. Good to know RvP scored, we don't want to run the risk of Rooney catching up to him.

We're doing the exhibition stuff at the moment, but that does run the risk of letting them get the break on us. Makes sense to conserve our energy though.

Looking at the replays, it seems pretty obvious why that goal was disallowed. De Gea is being clearly fouled, he's being pushed into his own goal!

I'm torn. I've seen worse not given as fouls but imo they should all be given as fouls. I hate this strategy of blocking the keeper off. It's a cowardly tactic, keepers should be given the benefit of the doubt as far as I'm concerned.

Dermot Gallagher's on the channel I'm watching the game on and he said the goal should have stood. He said that if there was a foul in the box then it would have been for Evans leaning into Caldwell.

edit: He was actually very critical of the officials. He questioned why the ref (who initially allowed the goal) let his lino overrule him when he had a far better position to judge if there was a foul.

It probably was a foul but you see them not given every week. Its a let off for Utd for sure. I think that's what Fergie will be telling the team at half time.

Yes, they said the same on the one I'm watching, but I'm not sure that I agree.

I would have expected it to stand but I'm happy it didn't. I expect to see a different team in the second half, I think that first half has been our worst of this season.

Cleverley coming on for Young.

Yeah, having just watched the replay again it was a foul but still Utd were lucky to get it. Utd need to get a grip in midfield, far to easy for Wigan at the moment.

Cleverley on.
