Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6th - 11th January 2012]

Yes, it's very sad and the guys in the car are morons.

He has the last laugh though of course - he's driving along in a car probably worth more than everything they own. *********.

As much as they are *****, money doesn't make you happy so don't see how he has the last laugh.

just watched the youtube vid. the one person in the vid seems alright and (comparitably) reserved but the other, with the swearing and insults is a moron. as one of the comments in the youtube feed reads, just what liverpool need 'more positive PR'

nasri is entitled to privacy, as is any footballer or sports professional. he didn't help himself by putting his window down though.

I don't see Gerrard's point, it's not like Mancini ran to the referee waving an imaginary red card. Mancini is just pointing out the **** poor refereeing consistency.

Kompany gets red and 4 game ban for a tackle 99% of pundits have said was barely even a yellow and yet Johnson gets nothing for the exact type of legbreaking two footed tackle that needs stamping out of the game.

It was hilarious when Stevie G pointed out Mancini's hypocrisy with regards to Rooney in the other game.

That was nothing more than mischief making from the reporter.

I don't think Mancini was trying to get Johnson into trouble, he was simply complaining about the lack of consistency. The reporter then twists what he says when interviewing Gerrard and even tells Gerrard that Mancini said something that he didn't even say.

If you want to have a pop at Mancini for something he said in his post-match interview, it should be that he thought City deserved a draw, not the Johnson comment.

You really think there's that much difference between the 2 tackles? By the time Johnson wins the tackle, his legs are on the floor where as Kompany's foot is raised, but Johnson's feet were together where as Kompany's were apart (some say he made a scissor action, I don't agree with that though). Neither was a great deal more dangerous than the other.

Both certain reds IMO.

But Mancini did run around waving imaginary reds a couple of games ago, so that and his comments now trying to put influence on referees in games to come is him generally being a ***

Well Mancini whined about Rooney running to the ref complaining it was two footed, Milner does the same thing and Mancini ran around waving cards against us in the last match.

That said it was red, still hypocritical for Mancini though.

Yeah but thats because players are directly influencing referee decisions, all managers can really do is complain to the fourth official.

Point taken about Milner I never said City were angels. :p

Well he shouldn't complain about other players if he lets his do it, and certainly shouldn't be waving cards himself.

That said Mancini gets it pretty rough from the media but it was a bit hypocritical off him even to question Rooney last week.

But Fergie influences referee's decisions all the time, even has an influence on time apparently...

There's no difference between a player running around with an imaginary card (which Rooney didn't even do) and a Manager blazing up the sideline screaming about one

The tackles were COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

To use a Ray Wilkins saying, My word how can you even suggest they are close.

Kompany was on the floor WAY before Nani got there, he jumped in while Nani was miles away and there wasn't a chance of Nani getting there before Kompany was on the floor. His feet WEREN'T together, nor were his legs locked.

His foot came slightly off the floor, but unlocked legs, separated feet, zero danger, Nani didn't jump out of the way, he simply wasn't there till after Kompany was down.

Now the Johnson one, he hit Lescott's foot but he was withdrawing it, he was not on the floor before he got there, both feet were together, his legs were locked. If he makes contact with a planted leg his ENTIRE body weight would have gone through with no bending of his legs to even take a little force out of it. That would have been a broken leg.

These tackles aren't even slightly similar except they were by footballers and on a pitch, and the first part of that is highly questionable :p

Go right now up to a wall, lock or your leg and push into the wall, now do the same thing with your leg bent. There is a HUGE amount of give and reduction in power with a bent leg, two legs together, locked, studs showing off the floor is the single most dangerous type of tackle that can be made, Kompanys, on the ground before the player gets there, feet apart, legs bent, wins the ball, no contact with the player? Sorry that isn't a red, a yellow or even a foul.

Johnsons foot touched the ground before he reached the ball and Lescott DM, he was on the ground.

Also it is questionable that Johnson is a footballer?

EDIT: Are two footed tackles actually straight reds? Also if so is it due to lack of control or deemed as too much force and dangerous?

Do you actually believe that?
