Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6th - 11th January 2012]

Jesus h christ you people really can be dense.

Kompany's BODY was on the floor, Johnson's IS NOT, his FULL WEIGHT is in the forward movement of his feet, his body is in mid air, hence ALL his weight is in the tackle.

Kompany was the complete opposite, his body was on the floor, 90-95% of his weight was on the floor.

You've also got a picture of the moment of impact, Kompany hit the floor BEFORE Nani got there.

Again, a really simple example. Put a balloon or anything soft on the floor. Now jump on it two footed.

Now lie down on the floor next to it, bend your leg, and smack it. Same weight and force behind each action? This isn't something you might say "doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out", this is something that wouldn't take a 12 year old to work out.

Yeah not sure why i bothered.

Also that balloon example is rubbish.

guess you must be less than 12 then, come up with a better example, I mean the most obvious one is a picture of Kompanys tackle and that picture of Johnson's, a 12 year old could see which one is shockingly dangerous, but you've already not understood that one.

What's even worse is, a bunch of you are now saying Johnson is "on the floor" because part of one leg is touching the floor, at the point of impact where a split second before he was completely in the air and you're magically equating this with, all his weight is on the floor before the tackle like Kompany's.

Yeah, I don't like Johnson so I'm talking BS, its not like its any Liverpool player so Liverpool fans will talk utter nonsense about their own players.

Not like there isn't a several dozen page long thread on Liverpool players being utterly sure Suarez said nothing wrong and Evra is a liar......... nope.

If you think that picture, which clear as day shows the vast majority of his body off the floor with two feet, studs showing, right into his foot, one above ankle height, with locked legs....... is the same as the Kompany tackle....... lol.

Johnson should have been sent off for that tackle. I don't blame Johnson (although you should for making a silly tackle in this climate) I blame the referee for not sending the player off.

Both are dangerous, if Nani had a planted leg and one of Kompany's feet had hit him would have broken it, it would still be his full body weight sliding along the ground at a fair speed into his leg, it doesn't require two to break his leg.

Like wise Glens is very dangerous and could break a leg if it is planted.

No one suggested you were talking crap about the tackle due to not liking Johnson, we are just suggesting you were talking crap about him being a bad footballer, which you were.

Also didn't realise Liverpool players posted on this forum.

weren't you nailing this point down on sunday and agreeing kompany should've been sent off because of it?

Erm, not that i recall.

Also what point? I'm asking a question stating two very different points or if it is a combination of both.

The Johnson tackle was far worse than Kompany's and anyone who says otherwise is nuts.
This.

I'm shocked people are defending Johnson. Regardless of DM's strange exercise routines, he's thrown his entire body weight into that tackle, and there's no way he could get out of it. Clear red.

I don't think anyone is suggesting it isn't a red at all?

Fair enough. I just thought it was poor refereeing and very stupid from Johnson's point of view (that is in regards to the current climate)

Ps I have replied to your email but like a tool sent it to the 'don't reply Overclockers thing' so I'll resend. Check your email :)

Haha, got it cheers.

Think it is a pretty stupid tackle regardless of the climate, much like Kompany's (although the way the ref reacted to it was hilarious), he was probably sure he wouldn't injure the man and get the ball but then again it has nothing to do with that anymore.

Some people just seem to be of the opinion that any tackle using two feet is an automatic red card offense, I don't know when that came in.

I (like DM and others) was under the impression that the two footed tackles that they were trying to clamp down on are the Johnson-esque ones.. ie. the player running at full speed launches himself through the air like a missile with both feet together. With Kompany's tackle he just drops to the ground with both feet apart, it's a totally different tackle in my eyes and not even worthy of a foul if the ball is won.

I guess the FA need to clarify the rules but they won't because they like to leave it up to interpretation and hence the inconsistent refereeing and confusion amongst fans.
